庶幾造次顛沛無所動心。蓋知受苦受難、實為吾人分內之事。嚮者吾與爾俱、早已預告吾人必有憂患、今果見驗、亦爾等之所親歷也。

大難得不死。饑饉亦能生。

小子所仰望。惟在聖主躬。主已應我求。呼籲達宸聰。拯我於深壑。拔我於泥中。置我磐石上。安步且從容。

勸眾堅心、信道勿移、曰：『吾人欲入天主之國、必須經歷多難。』

嗟我義塞族。自幼多顚沛。外患實頻仍。所幸未崩潰。敵人何猖狂。扶犁耕我背。犁溝深且長。凌虐亦云備。

彼等以暫時忍受、換得永久之福樂、不亦可羨乎？約伯之忍耐、爾曾聞之、且曾見之。而主之如何溫燠其晚境、皆昭昭在爾耳目。主之富於惻怛哀矜、於此可見一斑。

窮民號飢。主心愍之。開石為泉。沙漠成池。俾建城邑。安居樂業。良田多稼。葡萄徧植。春播其種。秋登其實。

亞伯漢曰：「兒乎、當憶汝生前如何享樂、辣柴魯如何受苦、今則彼見慰、而汝受罪矣。
