Whoever disregards discipline comes to poverty and shame, but whoever heeds correction is honored.

Those who turn away from their training become poor and ashamed. But those who accept warnings are honored.

愚妄人藐視父親的管教；而接受責備的是精明人。

耳朵聽從關乎生命的訓責，這樣的人必安居在智慧人當中。忽視管教的，厭棄自己的靈魂；聽從責備的，獲得智慧的心。

喜愛管教的，就是喜愛知識；恨惡責備的，卻是愚拙。

指教智慧人，他就更有智慧；教導義人，他就增添學問。

藐視訓言的，自招毀滅；敬畏誡命的，必得回報。

你們要當心，不要拒絕向你們說話的那一位。要知道，那些拒絕了在地上警告他們的，尚且無法逃脫懲罰，更何況我們背棄從天上警告我們的那一位呢！

許多人懇求高貴者的情面，每個人都是送禮之人的朋友。

在聽從者的耳中，智慧的責備就如金環和黃金飾品。

免得把你的尊榮交給別人，把你的歲月交給殘忍的人；免得別人滿得你的力量，你的勞苦所得就歸入外人的家。當你的皮肉和身體衰竭時，你必在你的盡頭哀嘆，說：「我怎麼就恨惡了管教呢？我的心怎麼就藐視了責備呢？我沒有聽老師的話，也沒有側耳聽教導我的人；在聚集的會眾裡，我幾乎身敗名裂！」

願義人擊打我——這是慈愛，願他責備我——這是頭上的膏油，不要讓我的頭拒絕！要知道，我的禱告一直針對惡人的惡行。
