For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

蓋偽基督假先知、將起而大施異跡奇事；倘可能者、並蒙選之人、亦將被惑矣。

吾羊樂聞吾音、予識之、而彼亦惟予是從；予賜以永生、終無淪亡之虞、亦無能奪自予手。

則彼橫行不法者、行將猖獗。而主耶穌乃必以其所發之正氣、予以懲創、且藉己之昭臨、予以殲滅。惟大憝之暴興也、亦必恃沙殫之魔力、恣權行異、以種種邪法、熒惑自求淪喪之徒。所謂自求淪喪之徒者、即不知愛慕真理、以望得救者耳。既不愛慕真理、天主亦祇得聽其從妄信謊、於是凡不信真理而惟邪惡是好者、必至判罪而後已。兄弟則為主之所愛、吾儕尚可不為爾等恆謝洪恩乎？蓋天主自始予爾等以簡拔、俾爾等受聖神之感化、篤信真理、以蒙救恩。其召爾也、以吾儕之傳福音為因緣、而以爾等得沾吾主耶穌基督之光榮為目的。

有現於爾前者、外披羊皮、內實貪狼、冒作先知、不可不防也。

王臣曰：『主乎！及吾兒未死、懇即辱臨！』

此獸多行奇跡、能於眾人之前、令火自空中而降。世人以其有權暢行異蹟於海獸之前、多受其熒惑。彼乃慫慂世人、為受傷獲瘳之獸製像、

必有人假吾名、冒稱基督、出而惑眾。

凡厥名自創世以來未錄於被宰羔羊之生命冊者、咸將翕然、景仰此獸。

此輩雖自吾儕中出、然自始非吾道中人；若真屬吾道中人、則應始終與吾儕相偕；今若輩半途而廢、與我分道、則其本非吾道中人、彰彰明矣。

雖然、天主堅實之基礎、固屹然不可搖動；其基礎之上、鐫有銘曰：凡屬主者、皆主所識。誦主名者、宜遠罪孽。

吾作此語、乃欲斥責一般意圖搖奪爾心之人也。

爾適所見之獸、一現即逝、又將起自深淵、終必淪胥以亡。舉世之人、凡其名自創世以來、未見錄於生命冊者、以其獸之一現即逝、而復勃興。咸將見而歎服。
