Protection from Evildoers
For the choir director. A Davidic psalm.
1God, hear my voice when I complain. Ps 55:2
Protect my life from the terror of the enemy. Ps 140:1
2Hide me from the scheming of wicked people, Ps 35:20; 37:12
from the mob of evildoers, Ps 22:16; 26:5
3who sharpen their tongues like swords
and aim bitter words like arrows, Ps 52:2; 57:4; Pr 25:18
4shooting from concealed places at the innocent.
They shoot at him suddenly and are not afraid. Ps 10:8; 11:2
5They encourage each other in an evil plan; Or thing; lit word Or They hold fast to an evil purpose, or They establish for themselves an evil purpose
they talk about hiding traps and say,
“Who will see them? ” Or us, or it Ps 35:7; 140:5; 141:9
6They devise crimes and say,
“We have perfected a secret plan.” Ps 21:11; 83:3
The inner man and the heart are mysterious.
7But God will shoot them with arrows;
suddenly, they will be wounded. Ps 7:13; 45:5; 144:6
8They will be made to stumble;
their own tongues work against them.
All who see them will shake their heads. Jr 18:16; 48:27; Lm 2:15
9Then everyone will fear
and will tell about God’s work,
for they will understand what He has done. Ps 40:3
10The righteous one rejoices in the Lord
and takes refuge in Him;
all those who are upright in heart
will offer praise. Ps 32:11; 68:3; 97:11-12
