The Vine and the Branches
Every branch in Me that does not produce fruit He removes, Mt 3:10; 7:19; 15:13; Lk 3:9; 13:6-9; Jn 15:6; Rm 11:17,22 and He prunes every branch that produces fruit so that it will produce more fruit.
Remain in Me, and I in you. Just as a branch is unable to produce fruit by itself unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in Me. Jn 6:56; 8:28; 1Jn 2:5
“I am the vine; Jms 3:12 you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him produces much fruit, Mk 4:8 because you can do nothing without Me.
If anyone does not remain in Me, he is thrown aside Jn 15:2 like a branch and he withers. They gather them, throw them into the fire, 2Th 1:8 and they are burned. 1Th 1:8; 2Pt 3:7
If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you want and it will be done for you. Jn 14:14
My Father is glorified Jn 11:4; 17:1; 1Pt 2:12 by this: that you produce much fruit and prove to be Or and become My disciples.
Christlike Love
If you keep My commands you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commands and remain in His love. Jn 5:19
“I have spoken these things to you so that My joy may be in you and your joy may be complete. 1Jn 1:4; 2Jn 12
No one has greater love than this, that someone would lay down his life Rm 5:8; 1Jn 3:16 for his friends.
You are My friends if you do what I command you.
I do not call you slaves anymore, because a slave doesn’t know what his master Or lord Col 3:22 is doing. I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything I have heard from My Father.
You did not choose Me, but I chose you. Mt 24:22 I appointed you that you should go out and produce fruit and that your fruit should remain, so that whatever you ask Jn 10:25 the Father in My name, Jn 14:13 He will give you. Jn 11:22; 16:23
This is what I command you: Love one another.
Persecutions Predicted
If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own. However, because you are not of the world, but I have chosen Eph 1:4 you out of it, the world hates you.
Remember the word I spoke to you: ‘A slave is not greater than his master.’ Jn 13:16 If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, Jn 8:51 they will also keep yours.
But they will do all these things to you on account of My name, Mk 13:13; Jn 10:25 because they don’t know Jn 3:11; 7:28; 20:9 the One who sent Me.
If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin. To have sin is an idiom that refers to guilt caused by sin. Ezk 2:5; 3:7; Jn 9:41; Rm 1:20; 2:1; 6:23 Now they have no excuse for their sin.
If I had not done the works Jn 5:36; Heb 3:9; Rv 15:3 among them that no one else has done, Jn 3:2; 7:31; 9:32; 10:32,37 they would not have sin. Jn 9:41 Now they have seen and hated both Me and My Father.
But this happened so that the statement written in their scripture might be fulfilled: Jn 12:38; 13:18; 17:12; 18:9,32; 19:24,36 They hated Me for no reason. Ps 69:4 Ps 69:4
Coming Testimony and Rejection
“When the Counselor Jn 14:16 comes, the One I will send to you from the Father Jn 14:26 — the Spirit of truth Ps 119:142; Jn 1:33; 14:17; 16:13; Rm 3:7; 1Jn 4:6 who proceeds from the Father — He will testify about Me.
