The strength to go on produces character. Character produces hope.

But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.

At my first defense no one stood with me, but all forsook me. who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ.Now if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effective for enduring the same sufferings which we also suffer. Or if we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.

But I will hope continually, And will praise You yet more and more.

For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.
