況復值聖怒。孰能無怵惕。

We are consumed by your anger and terrified by your indignation.

For we are brought to an end by your anger; by your wrath we are dismayed.

We wither beneath your anger; we are overwhelmed by your fury.

You correct and punish people for their sin. Then, just as a moth eats cloth, you destroy their wealth. No one lasts any longer than a breath.

That is why I was angry with them. I said,‘ Their hearts are always going astray. They have not known my ways.’So when I was angry, I made a promise. I said,‘ They will never enjoy the rest I planned for them.’ ”( Psalm 95:7–11)

But there are others who only look out for themselves. They don’t accept the truth. They go astray. God will pour out his great anger on them.There will be trouble and suffering for everyone who does evil. That is meant first for the Jews. It is also meant for the Gentiles.

Who was God angry with for 40 years? Wasn’t it with those who sinned? They died in the desert.God promised that those people would never enjoy the rest he planned for them. God gave his word when he made that promise. Didn’t he make that promise to those who didn’t obey?So we see that they weren’t able to enter. That’s because they didn’t believe.God’s promise of enjoying his rest still stands. So be careful that none of you fails to receive it.The good news was announced to our people of long ago. It has also been preached to us. The message they heard didn’t have any value for them. That’s because they didn’t share the faith of those who obeyed.

Burn them up in your anger. Burn them up until there isn’t anything left of them. Then everyone from one end of the earth to the other will know that God rules over the people of Jacob.

The Israelites said to Moses,“ We’ll die! We are lost! All of us are lost!Anyone who even comes near the Lord’ s holy tent will die. Are all of us going to die?”

Between the time we left Kadesh Barnea and the time we went across the Zered Valley, 38 years had passed. By then, all the fighting men who had been in our camp from the beginning had died. The Lord had warned them that it would happen.He used his power against them until he had gotten rid of all of them. Not one was left in the camp.Finally, the last of the fighting men among the people died.

If only we knew the power of your anger! It’s as great as the respect we should have for you.

Near the end of the night the Lord looked down from the pillar of fire and cloud. He saw the Egyptian army and threw it into a panic.
