We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done.

誨爾子女、或處室、或在途、或寢或興、以此為訓。

當告若子若孫歷代毋忘、

人必讚爾經綸、頌爾異跡、歷世弗替兮、爾之光華赫奕、爾之經綸顯著、余傳播之兮、爾施大能、俾人畏懼、無不稱頌兮、

上帝兮、自予之幼、爾訓迪予、迄於今日、彰爾經綸兮、今我年邁、皓然白首、毋我遐棄、我將以爾能力、訓誨斯世、爰及後人兮、

黽勉誨子、處於室、行於途、或寢或興、恆以此為訓。

惟當謹恪、畢生兢兢、自守其心、不致遺忘、爾所見者示於子孫。

此可為徵於爾中、越至後日、倘爾子孫詰爾曰、斯石何意、必曰、昔耶和華法匱、濟約但時、於其前河水絕流、此石為誌、使以色列族永憶勿忘。

選民曰、耶和華自昔、眷顧以色列族、矜憫無涯、恩膏甚溥、我念此而頌美焉。蓋耶和華以斯民為赤子、不敢違逆、故耶和華為其救主。民遭患難、主懷憂戚、自天遣使、以拯其災、特加眷愛、以贖其身、自昔迄今、扶翼之者屢矣。斯民違逆、使聖神懷憂、故耶和華視若讎民、而攻擊之。民憶古昔、摩西與其牧伯、為主所導、至自海濱、賦以聖神、今我主安在哉。誰展巨力、左右摩西、中判滄海、丕顯其名、永世弗替。民涉深淵、若馬行平原、不致顛躓、孰使其然。耶和華之神、使民綏安、導民歸來、若群畜之下陵谷、以彰榮光。主居穹蒼、聖殿輝煌、昔則熱中、展其大能、矜憫為懷、今也何靳爾恩、請俯視予。亞伯拉罕不知我、以色列不識我、惟耶和華我父也、我救主也、自古迄今、斯名不易。我迷於道、剛愎我心、不畏耶和華爾何聽其然、望爾垂念、眷顧爾僕、救爾選民。聖民得業未久、而敵人蹂躪聖所。爾非其民不治、爾以此視我儕久矣。

當告子孫、昔出埃及、耶和華拯我儕、故行此禮。

告以色列族曰、越至後世、爾之子孫、倘詰爾曰、立石何意。爾當告之曰、昔以色列族濟約但、如行陸地。蓋爾之上帝耶和華、使河水涸於民前、待民悉濟、如使紅海水涸、待民悉濟然。於是天下億兆知耶和華之巨能、爾當畏爾上帝耶和華、歷世靡暨。

何患難時、耶和華遙立、弗眷顧兮、惡者驕肆、虐遇貧乏、設謀以陷之兮、飽其欲而自矜、取不義而自足、於耶和華而欺之兮。惡者驕泰、以為上帝不加考察、而屬於虛無兮、既所為之如志、復災眚之弗及、所以藐視讐敵兮、

揚爾聲名、述爾神跡兮、

如爾子孫、問曷故行是。

今余得救、忻喜不勝、頌揚爾名於郇門兮。

厥後若爾子孫詰爾、行此曷故、爾宜告之、耶和華以大能導我出埃及、脫我於賤役、

即哲人之箴規、祖考之遺訓。
