耶和華說：「正如無人能量度高天，探測大地的根基，同樣我也決不會因以色列人的所作所為而棄絕他們。這是耶和華說的。」

你曾開闢泉源和溪流，也曾使滔滔河水枯乾。

看啊，耶和華從遠方來，伴著滾滾濃煙，祂的怒氣如烈火，話語充滿憤怒，舌頭好像烈焰。祂的氣息像淹到人頸項的洪流。祂必像篩子一樣篩列國，毀滅他們，並把嚼環放在列邦口中，引他們走上歧途。

焚燒之地——陀斐特早已為亞述王預備好了，那裡又寬又深，堆著許多木柴，耶和華的氣必如同一股硫磺火點燃那些木柴。

他們被上帝的氣息所毀，被上帝的怒氣所滅。

你奠立大地的根基，使它永不動搖。

「我立大地根基的時候，你在哪裡？你若那麼聰明，請告訴我。你可知道誰為大地定的尺寸？誰用準繩把它丈量？是什麼支撐大地的根基？誰為它安放的基石？

我下沉到山的根基，大地的門把我永遠關住；然而，我的上帝耶和華啊，你卻把我的性命從深坑中拯救出來。
