智慧的開端就是：你要獲得智慧；要用你一切所得的去獲得明達。

The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.

To start being wise you must first get wisdom. No matter what it costs, get understanding.

The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight.

Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do! And whatever else you do, develop good judgment.

Wisdom is supreme— so get wisdom. And whatever else you get, get understanding.

The beginning of wisdom is: Acquire wisdom; And with all your possessions, acquire understanding.

Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.

因為人在智慧之蔭庇下，像在銀錢之蔭庇下一樣；但智慧能使得智慧的人曉得怎樣生活：這便是認識智慧的益處。

我說，雖即那貧窮漢的智慧儘管被藐視，而他的話儘管無人聽從，然智慧終是勝過勇力的。智慧人的話安安靜靜地有人聽，勝過掌管者在愚頑人之中的喊叫聲。智慧比打仗的器械好，但一個作錯了事的人能把許多好事弄壞。

要購買真理；不可出賣真理；要購買智慧、管教、和明達。

得智慧勝過得黃金；得明達勝於選得銀子。

『天國好像寶貝藏在田地裏。人遇見了，就藏起來；由於歡喜的緣故、就去賣了他所有的，來買那田地。『天國又好像商人尋找好珠子。尋見了一顆寶貴的珠子，就去變賣他所有的一切，來買了它。

不但如此，為了要得認識我主基督耶穌——這種認識之至寶，我竟將萬事都看做虧損了；為了他，我已經虧損了一切，看做糞土，為要贏得基督，

藉着你的訓令、我得以明理；故此我恨惡各樣虛假的行徑。

人贏得全世界，而賠上了自己的性命，有甚麼益處呢？人能拿出甚麼來對換自己的性命呢？

但上帝卻對他說：「糊塗人哪，就在今天夜裏，你的財物就要要你的命了！你所豫備的、要歸誰呢？」

你見人發財、家增豪富，你可不要懼怕；因為他死的時候、甚麼也不能帶走；他的財寶並不能隨他下去。他活着時雖祝賀自己，（他利己、人雖稱讚他），他還要歸到他歷代祖宗那裏，永不見光。人是不能久居於富貴的；他好似終被宰割的牲口一樣。

用虛謊舌頭得來的財寶、是吹來吹去的浮雲、死亡之網羅。

我為自己動大工程，建造房屋，為自己栽種葡萄園，為自己修造庭園和園圃，在其中栽種各樣果木樹；我為自己挖造水池，用來澆灌生長的樹林。我買了僕婢，也有生於家中的僕婢；我又有許多牛羣羊羣，勝過我以前所有在耶路撒冷的人。我又為自己積蓄着金銀、和君王的珍寶、各省的珍寶；我得了男女歌唱者和人類所喜愛之物、並許多的妃嬪。這樣我就日見昌大，勝過我以前所有在耶路撒冷的人；並且我的智慧仍為我所有。

有人孤單無二：沒有兒子也沒有弟兄，他的一切勞碌永無了結，他的眼目也從未以財富為足，以致他從未自問：我勞勞碌碌、薄於自奉，而不享樂，到底為的是誰？這也是虛空，是極喫力的勞苦。

但所需要的只有一件。馬利亞已經揀了好的份兒，就是不能被奪去的。』
