『然而智慧在哪裏可尋到？明達之處在哪裏呢？智慧的路無人知道，在活人之處也不得尋見。深淵說：「不在我裏面」；洋海說：「不在我這裏」。智慧不是用精金可換得的，也不能平白銀去抵價值。用俄斐的金不足與評價，用寶貴水蒼玉和藍寶石也不能。金子和玻璃不足與比較，煉淨的金器也不足與兌換。珊瑚與水晶不足提說；取得智慧、勝得珍珠。古實的黃玉不足與比較，用淨金也不足與評價。

再者，傳道人除了做智慧師之外，他還繼續將知識教訓一切人；他又衡量，又考查，又編撰許多箴言。傳道人專心尋求要得可喜悅的話，便將真實之話正確確地寫出來。智慧人的話好像犂刺；語集中的成分又像釘得牢固的釘子：都是一個牧者所賜的。

心中有智慧的可稱為明達人；嘴裏的甜言能增加說服力。

任何壞話都別說出口了；卻要說按需要能建立人的好話，好將溫雅之恩給聽的人。

得智慧勝過得黃金；得明達勝於選得銀子。

智慧人的嘴脣散播着知識；愚頑人的心並不明理。
