Whoever conceals hatred with lying lips and spreads slander is a fool.

Anyone who hides hatred with lying lips and spreads lies is foolish.

The one who conceals hatred has lying lips, and whoever utters slander is a fool.

Hiding hatred makes you a liar; slandering others makes you a fool.

Now when Abner had returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside in the gate to speak with him privately, and there stabbed him in the stomach, so that he died for the blood of Asahel his brother.

Then Joab said to Amasa,“ Are you in health, my brother?” And Joab took Amasa by the beard with his right hand to kiss him.But Amasa did not notice the sword that was in Joab’s hand. And he struck him with it in the stomach, and his entrails poured out on the ground; and he did not strike him again. Thus he died. Then Joab and Abishai his brother pursued Sheba the son of Bichri.

Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor, Him I will destroy; The one who has a haughty look and a proud heart, Him I will not endure.

He who does not backbite with his tongue, Nor does evil to his neighbor, Nor does he take up a reproach against his friend;

and Saul was still more afraid of David. So Saul became David’s enemy continually.

So they watched Him, and sent spies who pretended to be righteous, that they might seize on His words, in order to deliver Him to the power and the authority of the governor.Then they asked Him, saying,“ Teacher, we know that You say and teach rightly, and You do not show personal favoritism, but teach the way of God in truth:

You sit and speak against your brother; You slander your own mother’s son.

They speak idly everyone with his neighbor; With flattering lips and a double heart they speak.

He who hates, disguises it with his lips, And lays up deceit within himself;When he speaks kindly, do not believe him, For there are seven abominations in his heart;Though his hatred is covered by deceit, His wickedness will be revealed before the assembly.

So Saul said,“ I will give her to him, that she may be a snare to him, and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him.” Therefore Saul said to David a second time,“ You shall be my son-in-law today.”And Saul commanded his servants,“ Communicate with David secretly, and say,‘ Look, the king has delight in you, and all his servants love you. Now therefore, become the king’s son-in-law.’”

And it came to pass, after two full years, that Absalom had sheepshearers in Baal Hazor, which is near Ephraim; so Absalom invited all the king’s sons.Then Absalom came to the king and said,“ Kindly note, your servant has sheepshearers; please, let the king and his servants go with your servant.”But the king said to Absalom,“ No, my son, let us not all go now, lest we be a burden to you.” Then he urged him, but he would not go; and he blessed him.Then Absalom said,“ If not, please let my brother Amnon go with us.” And the king said to him,“ Why should he go with you?”But Absalom urged him; so he let Amnon and all the king’s sons go with him.Now Absalom had commanded his servants, saying,“ Watch now, when Amnon’s heart is merry with wine, and when I say to you,‘ Strike Amnon!’ then kill him. Do not be afraid. Have I not commanded you? Be courageous and valiant.”So the servants of Absalom did to Amnon as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king’s sons arose, and each one got on his mule and fled.

For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; Their inward part is destruction; Their throat is an open tomb; They flatter with their tongue.

The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, But war was in his heart; His words were softer than oil, Yet they were drawn swords.

And David said to Uriah,“ Go down to your house and wash your feet.” So Uriah departed from the king’s house, and a gift of food from the king followed him.But Uriah slept at the door of the king’s house with all the servants of his Lord, and did not go down to his house.So when they told David, saying,“ Uriah did not go down to his house,” David said to Uriah,“ Did you not come from a journey? Why did you not go down to your house?”And Uriah said to David,“ The ark and Israel and Judah are dwelling in tents, and my Lord Joab and the servants of my Lord are encamped in the open fields. Shall I then go to my house to eat and drink, and to lie with my wife? As you live, and as your soul lives, I will not do this thing.”Then David said to Uriah,“ Wait here today also, and tomorrow I will let you depart.” So Uriah remained in Jerusalem that day and the next.Now when David called him, he ate and drank before him; and he made him drunk. And at evening he went out to lie on his bed with the servants of his Lord, but he did not go down to his house.In the morning it happened that David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it by the hand of Uriah.And he wrote in the letter, saying,“ Set Uriah in the forefront of the hottest battle, and retreat from him, that he may be struck down and die.”
