Moreover, as you Philippians know, in the early days of your acquaintance with the gospel, when I set out from Macedonia, not one church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you only;

And you believers at Philippi know what happened when I left Macedonia. Not one church helped me in the matter of giving and receiving. You were the only one that did. That was in the early days when you first heard the good news.

And you Philippians yourselves know that in the beginning of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church entered into partnership with me in giving and receiving, except you only.

As you know, you Philippians were the only ones who gave me financial help when I first brought you the Good News and then traveled on from Macedonia. No other church did this.

And you Philippians know that in the early days of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving except you alone.

蓋爾等與予通力合作、贊助福音、自始迄今、猶如一日。

抑吾之傳道而未受爾之束修、果為不宜乎？吾嘗取資他會、以供爾之所需。前次吾在爾處、雖甚貧乏、亦未曾有累於爾、一惟仰給於來自馬其頓之兄弟。蓋吾在在以相累為戒、過去如此、今後亦當如此。我一日抱基督之道、無人能令吾之所以自誇於亞該亞境內者、中途而廢也。然吾亦胡為而出此乎？謂我不爾愛乎？主實鑒之！顧吾之所以為此、且願守此不渝者、不欲予人以口實、而謂若輩之所誇亦同乎吾儕之所誇耳。

吾之狂誕、爾使之也。吾早應受爾等之保舉矣。吾固不足道也、然較諸聲望最隆之宗徒、亦何所欠缺乎？吾在爾中、以百折不撓之忍耐、用盡種種聖蹟、靈異、奇能、尚不能為宗徒之佐證乎？且爾等所受之寵惠、亦何一不如其他教會乎？有所不如者、其惟吾之不以生計相累乎？吾望爾等勿以此見罪！爾等其注意、我欲第三次就爾、仍不擬增爾負擔。蓋吾所求者爾也、非爾之所有也。且兒女本無積財與父母之義務、惟父母對於兒女則有此義務耳。吾為爾等靈魂之故、固不惜任何之犧牲、即犧牲本身、亦所甘心。豈吾之愛爾愈厚、而爾之愛我愈薄耶？
