加以訓誨、使服爾律例、彼妄自誇大、不從爾命、爾之法度、遵之者則得生、彼故犯之、強項難馴、背命不聽。

加以警戒、使復服主之律法、乃彼狂妄、不從主之誡命、干犯主之法度、人若遵之必得生、彼乃違背強項、不欲聽從、

“ You warned them in order to turn them back to your law, but they became arrogant and disobeyed your commands. They sinned against your ordinances, of which you said,‘ The person who obeys them will live by them.’ Stubbornly they turned their backs on you, became stiff- necked and refused to listen.

“ You warned them so that they would obey your law again. But they became proud. They didn’t obey your commands. They sinned against your rules. You said,‘ Anyone who obeys my rules will live by them.’ But the people didn’t care about that. They turned their backs on you. They became very stubborn. They refused to listen to you.

And you warned them in order to turn them back to your law. Yet they acted presumptuously and did not obey your commandments, but sinned against your rules, which if a person does them, he shall live by them, and they turned a stubborn shoulder and stiffened their neck and would not obey.

“ You warned them to return to your Law, but they became proud and obstinate and disobeyed your commands. They did not follow your regulations, by which people will find life if only they obey. They stubbornly turned their backs on you and refused to listen.

但我們的祖先行事狂傲，頑固不化，不肯聽從你的誡命。

你們要遵守我的典章和律例。遵行的人必存活。我是耶和華。

「然而，他們不順從你，背叛你，把你的律法拋在背後，又殺掉勸誡他們歸向你的眾先知，大大褻瀆了你。

就行神蹟奇事對付法老及其所有的臣僕和國民，因為你知道他們對以色列人行事狂傲。你使自己威名遠揚直到今日。

但上帝賜給我們更大的恩典，所以聖經上說：「上帝阻擋驕傲的人，恩待謙卑的人。」因此，你們要服從上帝，抵擋魔鬼，魔鬼必逃離你們。你們親近上帝，上帝就必親近你們。有罪的人啊，洗淨你們的手吧！三心二意的人啊，潔淨你們的心吧！你們要悲傷、憂愁、痛哭，轉歡笑為悲哀，變歡樂為愁苦。你們要在主面前謙卑，祂必擢升你們。

他們卻不理會，背過身去，充耳不聞，心如鐵石，不遵從律法，也不遵從萬軍之耶和華藉著祂的靈指示從前的先知所說的話。因此，萬軍之耶和華非常憤怒。

何沙雅的兒子亞撒利雅、加利亞的兒子約哈難和一些狂妄之徒對耶利米說：「你在撒謊！我們的上帝耶和華並沒有派你來告訴我們不可去埃及住。

「以色列的上帝——萬軍之耶和華說，『看啊，我要把我說過的災禍降在這城及其周圍的村莊，因為他們頑固不化，不肯聽我的話。』」

「從猶大王亞們的兒子約西亞執政第十三年，到今天已有二十三年。在這期間，我不斷把耶和華對我說的話傳給你們，你們卻充耳不聞。耶和華屢次差遣祂的僕人——眾先知警告你們，你們卻充耳不聞，毫不理會。他們對你們說，『要改邪歸正，停止作惡，以便可以永遠住在耶和華賜給你們和你們祖先的土地上。不要隨從、供奉、祭拜其他神明，不要製造神像惹耶和華發怒，免得祂懲罰你們。』」耶和華說：「然而，你們不聽我的話，製造神像惹我發怒，自招懲罰。」

然而，他們卻不聽，毫不理會，頑固不化，不肯受教。

但你們掩耳不聽，頑固不化，比你們的祖先更邪惡。

所以，我差遣先知用我的話殺戮你們，我的審判必如閃電臨到你們。

你們至今既不悔悟也不懼怕，不遵行我給你們和你們祖先設立的律法和誡命。

耶和華說話了，你們要留心聽，不可傲慢。趁著你們的上帝耶和華還未使黑暗來臨，你們還未在漆黑的山上絆倒，要把榮耀歸給祂。否則，祂必使你們期望的光明變為幽冥和黑暗。如果你們因為驕傲而不肯聽，我會暗自哭泣、淚流滿面，因為耶和華的子民將要被擄。

律法卻不是以信心為本，而是說：「遵行的人必存活。」

「我們不會聽從你奉耶和華的名對我們說的話。但我們必照所許的願向天后燒香奠酒，正如我們和我們的祖先、君王和官長在猶大各城和耶路撒冷街上所做的一樣。那時，我們食物充足，生活幸福，無災無禍。

但他變得心高氣傲、剛愎自用、狂妄自大，因而被革除王位、剝去尊榮。

摩西和亞倫便進宮去見法老，對他說：「希伯來人的上帝耶和華說，『你要到什麼時候才肯在我面前謙卑下來，讓我的子民離開這裡去事奉我？

當許多禍患和災難臨到他們的時候，這首歌就要成為指控他們的證據，因為這首歌要在他們的子孫中世代流傳。雖然我還沒有帶領他們進入我起誓應許之地，我已經知道他們的心思意念。」

但耶和華仍然派先知到他們中間，引導他們歸向祂。先知警告他們，他們卻不聽。

否則，今天我叫天地作證，你們必很快從約旦河對面將要佔領的土地上滅亡，你們必被徹底消滅，不得在那裡長久居住。

耶穌說：「你答得對，照著去做就有永生了。」

關於律法的義，摩西寫道：「人若遵行律法的誡命，就必活著。」

他們祖先的上帝耶和華因為憐愛祂的子民和祂的居所，就不斷派使者來勸告他們。

耶和華藉著祂的眾先知和先見警告以色列人和猶大人說：「你們要離開惡道，遵守我的誡命和律例，即我吩咐你們祖先遵守並藉著我的僕人——眾先知傳給你們的律法。」

向他們頒佈我的律例和典章，若有人遵守，就必活著。
