The whole company that had returned from exile built temporary shelters and lived in them. From the days of Joshua son of Nun until that day, the Israelites had not celebrated it like this. And their joy was very great.

All the people who had returned from the land of Babylon made booths. They lived in them during the Feast of Booths. They hadn’t celebrated the feast with so much joy for a long time. In fact, they had never celebrated it like that from the days of Joshua, the son of Nun, until that day. So their joy was very great.

And all the assembly of those who had returned from the captivity made booths and lived in the booths, for from the days of Jeshua the son of Nun to that day the people of Israel had not done so. And there was very great rejoicing.

So everyone who had returned from captivity lived in these shelters during the festival, and they were all filled with great joy! The Israelites had not celebrated like this since the days of Joshua son of Nun.

又照着摩西的吩咐，在安息日、初一和一年三次特定的节期，就是除酵节、七七节、住棚节，献上每日当献的。

他们又按照律法上所记载的守住棚节，每天照着规定的数目献上当天的燔祭。

那时，所罗门和全体以色列人，就是来自哈马口，直到埃及小河的一群极大的会众，一起举行了七天的节期。第八天举行了严肃会，又举行献坛礼七天，举行了七天的节期。七月二十三日，王遣散众民回家；他们因看见耶和华向大卫、所罗门和他的子民以色列所施的恩惠，心里都欢喜快乐。

道成了肉身，住在我们中间，满有恩典和真理。我们见过他的荣光，正是从父而来的独生子的荣光。

那一天，他们十分喜乐地在耶和华面前吃喝。他们再次表示拥立大卫的儿子所罗门作王，膏他为耶和华作君王，又膏撒督作祭司。

自从撒母耳先知的日子以来，在以色列中没有守过像这样的逾越节；以色列诸王也都没有守过这样的逾越节，像约西亚、祭司、利未人、犹大众人和在场的以色列人，以及耶路撒冷的居民守的。

在耶路撒冷的以色列人，都十分欢乐地守除酵节七天；利未人和祭司天天赞美耶和华，用响亮的乐器赞美耶和华。希西家慰勉所有善于事奉耶和华的利未人；众人吃节筵七日，又献上平安祭，称颂耶和华他们列祖的神。全体会众商议好了，要再守节期七天，于是他们欢欢喜喜地又举行了七天。

因着信，他在应许之地寄居，好像是在异乡，与承受同样应许的以撒、雅各一样住在帐棚里。

如果约书亚已经使他们享受了安息，神后来就不会再提到别的日子了。

这样，在耶路撒冷有极大的欢乐，自从以色列王大卫的儿子所罗门的日子以来，在耶路撒冷都没有像这样的欢乐。

这些人都是存着信心死了的，还没有得着所应许的，只不过是从远处看见，就表示欢迎，又承认他们在世上是异乡人，是客旅。

耶和华的仆人摩西死了以后，耶和华吩咐摩西的侍从，嫩的儿子约书亚，说：
