The highest angelic powers stand in awe of God. He is far more awesome than all who surround his throne.

The disciples were amazed.“ Who is this man?” they asked.“ Even the winds and waves obey him!”

But be sure to fear the Lord and faithfully serve him. Think of all the wonderful things he has done for you.

Then he asked them,“ Where is your faith?” The disciples were terrified and amazed.“ Who is this man?” they asked each other.“ When he gives a command, even the wind and waves obey him!”

When they climbed back into the boat, the wind stopped.

Who will not fear you, Lord, and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous deeds have been revealed.”

I said,‘ This far and no farther will you come. Here your proud waves must stop!’

Then the frightened woman, trembling at the realization of what had happened to her, came and fell to her knees in front of him and told him what she had done.

So Samuel called to the Lord, and the Lord sent thunder and rain that day. And all the people were terrified of the Lord and of Samuel.“ Pray to the Lord your God for us, or we will die!” they all said to Samuel.“ For now we have added to our sins by asking for a king.”“ Don’t be afraid,” Samuel reassured them.“ You have certainly done wrong, but make sure now that you worship the Lord with all your heart, and don’t turn your back on him.

“ The purpose of my covenant with the Levites was to bring life and peace, and that is what I gave them. This required reverence from them, and they greatly revered me and stood in awe of my name.

Then the sailors picked Jonah up and threw him into the raging sea, and the storm stopped at once!The sailors were awestruck by the Lord’s great power, and they offered him a sacrifice and vowed to serve him.

Jonah answered,“ I am a Hebrew, and I worship the Lord, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the land.”The sailors were terrified when they heard this, for he had already told them he was running away from the Lord.“ Oh, why did you do it?” they groaned.

They were completely amazed and said again and again,“ Everything he does is wonderful. He even makes the deaf to hear and gives speech to those who cannot speak.”

Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe.

Amazed, the people exclaimed,“ What authority and power this man’s words possess! Even evil spirits obey him, and they flee at his command!”
