他們把耶穌從該亞法那裏押解到總督府。那時是清早。他們自己卻不進總督府，恐怕染了污穢，不能吃逾越節的宴席。於是彼拉多出來，到他們那裏，說：「你們告這人是為甚麼事呢？」他們回答他說：「這人若不作惡，我們就不會把他交給你了。」彼拉多對他們說：「你們自己帶他去，按着你們的律法問他吧！」猶太人說：「我們沒有殺人的權柄。」這是要應驗耶穌所說，指自己將要怎樣死的話。於是彼拉多又進了總督府，叫耶穌來，對他說：「你是猶太人的王嗎？」耶穌回答：「這話是你說的，還是別人論到我時對你說的呢？」彼拉多回答：「難道我是猶太人嗎？你的同胞和祭司長把你交給我。你做了甚麼事呢？」耶穌回答：「我的國不屬於這世界；我的國若屬於這世界，我的部下就會為我戰鬥，使我不至於被交給猶太人。只是我的國不屬於這世界。」於是彼拉多對他說：「那麼，你是王了？」耶穌回答：「是你說我是王。我為此而生，也為此來到世界，為了給真理作見證。凡屬真理的人都聽我的話。」彼拉多對他說：「真理是甚麼呢？」說了這話，彼拉多又出來到猶太人那裏，對他們說：「我查不出他有甚麼罪狀。

亞伯拉罕的神、以撒的神、雅各的神，就是我們列祖的神，已經榮耀了他的僕人耶穌，這耶穌就是你們交付官府的那位，彼拉多決定要釋放他時，你們卻在彼拉多面前棄絕了他。

你曾藉着聖靈託你僕人－我們祖宗大衛的口說：『外邦為甚麼擾動？萬民為甚麼謀算虛妄的事？地上的君王都站穩，臣宰也聚集一處，要對抗主，對抗主的受膏者。』希律和本丟‧彼拉多，同外邦人和以色列民，果然在這城裏聚集，要攻打你所膏的聖僕耶穌，做了你手和你旨意所預定必成就的事。

他將被交給外邦人；他們要戲弄他，凌辱他，向他吐唾沫，並要鞭打他，殺害他；第三天他要復活。」

世上的君王都站穩，臣宰一同算計，要對抗耶和華，對抗他的受膏者：
