The best of them is like a brier, the most upright worse than a thorn hedge. The day God visits you has come, the day your watchmen sound the alarm. Now is the time of your confusion.

The best of these people are as harmful as thorns. The most honest of them are even worse. God has come to punish you. The time your prophets warned you about has come. Panic has taken hold of you.

因為主萬軍之永恆主使異象平谷中有狼狽驚惶、彼此踐踏、慌慌亂亂的日子：都市被拆毁，呼救聲達到山間。

人子啊，你不要怕他們，他們的話你可不要懼怕，雖有頂撞和藐視的人如同荊棘和蒺藜在你那裏，你又住在蠍子中間；他們的話你可不要懼怕，你不要因他們的臉色而驚慌；他們原是叛逆之家。

但匪類卻像荊棘、都被丟棄；是不能用手拿的；人要摸它，總得裝備鐵器和矛杆，它就徹底被燒掉於火中了。』

當察罰的日子、有風暴從遠方趕來，你們要怎樣行呢？你們要向誰逃奔去得救助呢？你們的財寶要撇在哪裏呢？

因此你要對他們說：主永恆主這麼說：我必使這一句俗語止息；人在以色列中必不再用它做俗語。」你卻要對他們說：日期是臨近了，一切異象傳講的話就會應驗的。從此在以色列家中必不再有虛謊的異象和奉承的占卜了。

他們行了可厭惡的事、覺得慚愧麼？不，他們一點也不慚愧，也不知羞恥；因此他們必在仆倒的人中間仆倒；我察罰他們時、他們必致傾覆：這是永恆主說的。

必有松樹長起、以代替荊棘；有桃金孃長起、以代替蕁麻：這必為永恆主留名，作為永遠的證據，不能被剪除。』

偶像簡直是虛無，是惹人嘲笑的傑作！到受察罰時、一定滅亡。

『在日月星辰上必有迹象，在地上列國人必有困苦；因了海和翻浪之響聲，人都在為難失措中；

察罰的日子來了，報應的日子到了，以色列必知道的。神言人愚忘，靈感動的人瘋狂，都因你罪孽之大，仇恨之深。神言人是以法連的守望者，我的上帝之人民的看守人；然而在他所行的路上都有捕鳥人的機檻，在他的上帝家中都有仇恨要害他。

永恆主說：『阿摩司啊，你看見甚麼？』我說：『一籠夏天果子。』永恆主就對我說：『我人民以色列的結局到了；我必不再把他們放過去。』

他們如同荊棘叢雜纏結，雖滋潤灌滿如喝醉，終必被燒滅、像乾透了的碎稭。

但若生出荊棘和蒺藜，就不中用，近於受咒詛；其結局乃是被焚燒。
