And when the demon was driven out, the man who had been mute spoke. The crowd was amazed and said,“ Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.”

耶穌趕出一個啞巴鬼，鬼既出去，啞巴就說起話來，眾人都希奇。

有人帶著一個又聾又啞的人到他那裡，求耶穌按手在他身上。耶穌把他從人群中帶到一邊，用指頭探他的耳朵，吐唾沫抹他的舌頭，然後望著天，長長地歎了一口氣，對他說：“以法大！”意思是“開了吧”。那人的耳朵就開了，舌頭也鬆了，說話也準確了。耶穌囑咐他們不要告訴人。但他越是囑咐，他們卻越發傳揚。眾人非常驚訝說：“他所作的一切事都好極了；他竟然使聾子聽見，又使啞巴說話。”

那時，瘸子必像鹿一般跳躍，啞巴的舌頭必大聲歡呼；曠野必湧出大水，沙漠必流出江河。

耶和華對他說：“誰造人的口呢？誰使人口啞、耳聾、眼明、眼瞎呢？不是我耶和華嗎？現在去吧，我必賜你口才，指教你當說的。”

有許多人來到他那裡，把瘸腿的、瞎眼的、殘廢的、啞的和許多別的病人，都帶到耶穌跟前，他就醫好他們。群眾看見啞巴說話，殘廢的復原，瘸腿的行走，瞎眼的看見，就十分驚奇，於是頌讚以色列的神。

你曾在埃及地行神蹟奇事，你在以色列和全人類中間直到今日也是這樣，使你自己得了名聲，好像今日一樣。

那人就起來，立刻拿著褥子，當眾出去了。眾人都非常驚奇，頌讚神，說：“我們從來沒有見過這樣的事。”

神人以利沙聽見以色列王撕裂自己的衣服，就打發人去見王說：“你為甚麼撕裂自己的衣服呢？請你把他送到我這裡來吧！他就知道在以色列中有先知了。”

在猶大，神是人人所認識的，在以色列，他的名被尊為大。

耶穌聽見這些話，就很驚奇，轉身對跟隨的眾人說：“我告訴你們，這樣的信心，我在以色列中從來沒有見過。”
