But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, makes her the victim of adultery, and anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

But here is what I tell you. Anyone who divorces his wife makes her a victim of adultery. And anyone who gets married to the divorced woman commits adultery. A man may divorce his wife only if she has not been faithful to him.

So then, if while her husband is alive she gives herself to another man, she will be called an adulteress; but if her husband dies, she is free from the law, so that she is not an adulteress if she gives herself to another man.

“ Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery, and he who marries one who is divorced from a husband commits adultery.

But to the married I give instructions, not I, but the Lord, that the wife is not to leave her husband( but if she does leave, she must remain unmarried, or else be reconciled to her husband), and that the husband is not to divorce his wife.

He* said to them,“ Because of your hardness of heart Moses permitted you to divorce your wives; but from the beginning it has not been this way.And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.”

But Jesus said to them,“ Because of your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment.But from the beginning of creation, God created them male and female.For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother,and the two shall become one flesh; so they are no longer two, but one flesh.Therefore, what God has joined together, no person is to separate.”And in the house the disciples again began questioning Him about this.And He* said to them,“ Whoever divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her;and if she herself divorces her husband and marries another man, she is committing adultery.”

The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does; and likewise the husband also does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.

but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Yet you say,“ For what reason?” Because the Lord has been a witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt treacherously, though she is your marriage companion and your wife by covenant.But not one has done so who has a remnant of the Spirit. And why the one? He was seeking a godly offspring. Be careful then about your spirit, and see that none of you deals treacherously against the wife of your youth.“ For I hate divorce,” says the Lord, the God of Israel,“ and him who covers his garment with violence,” says the Lord of armies.“ So be careful about your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously.”

And then a voice came from the cloud, saying,“ This is My Son, My Chosen One; listen to Him!”

And behold, two men were talking with Him; and they were Moses and Elijah,
