Jesus answered,“ It is written:‘ Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Jesus answered,“ It is written,‘ Man must not live only on bread. He must also live on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ”( Deuteronomy 8:3)

But he answered,“ It is written,“‘ Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Our fathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written,‘ He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’”Then Jesus said to them,“ Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven.For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”Then they said to Him,“ Lord, give us this bread always.”And Jesus said to them,“ I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.But I said to you that you have seen Me and yet do not believe.All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day.And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”The Jews then complained about Him, because He said,“ I am the bread which came down from heaven.”And they said,“ Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How is it then that He says,‘ I have come down from heaven’?”Jesus therefore answered and said to them,“ Do not murmur among yourselves.No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.It is written in the prophets,‘ And they shall all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me.Not that anyone has seen the Father, except He who is from God; He has seen the Father.Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life.I am the bread of life.Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead.This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die.I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.”The Jews therefore quarreled among themselves, saying,“ How can this Man give us His flesh to eat?”Then Jesus said to them,“ Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you.Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed.He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me.This is the bread which came down from heaven— not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever.”These things He said in the synagogue as He taught in Capernaum.

It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

So when the children of Israel saw it, they said to one another,“ What is it?” For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them,“ This is the bread which the Lord has given you to eat.

And the children of Israel ate manna forty years, until they came to an inhabited land; they ate manna until they came to the border of the land of Canaan.

And Jesus answered and said to him,“ Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written,‘ You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’”

Also Moses said,“ This shall be seen when the Lord gives you meat to eat in the evening, and in the morning bread to the full; for the Lord hears your complaints which you make against Him. And what are we? Your complaints are not against us but against the Lord.”

Then Jesus lifted up His eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward Him, He said to Philip,“ Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?”But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do.Philip answered Him,“ Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may have a little.”One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to Him,“ There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?”Then Jesus said,“ Make the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted.So when they were filled, He said to His disciples,“ Gather up the fragments that remain, so that nothing is lost.”Therefore they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten.Then those men, when they had seen the sign that Jesus did, said,“ This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.”Therefore when Jesus perceived that they were about to come and take Him by force to make Him king, He departed again to the mountain by Himself alone.

Then Jesus said to him,“ Away with you, Satan! For it is written,‘ You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’”

Jesus said to him,“ It is written again,‘ You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’”

Then Elisha said,“ Hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord:‘ Tomorrow about this time a seah of fine flour shall be sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel, at the gate of Samaria.’”So an officer on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God and said,“ Look, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, could this thing be?” And he said,“ In fact, you shall see it with your eyes, but you shall not eat of it.”

You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me, Even this whole nation.Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts,“ If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.“ And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” Says the Lord of hosts;

Then His disciples answered Him,“ How can one satisfy these people with bread here in the wilderness?”He asked them,“ How many loaves do you have?” And they said,“ Seven.”So He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground. And He took the seven loaves and gave thanks, broke them and gave them to His disciples to set before them; and they set them before the multitude.They also had a few small fish; and having blessed them, He said to set them also before them.So they ate and were filled, and they took up seven large baskets of leftover fragments.Now those who had eaten were about four thousand. And He sent them away,

And Jesus answered and said to him,“ It has been said,‘ You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’”

But Jesus said to them,“ They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”And they said to Him,“ We have here only five loaves and two fish.”He said,“ Bring them here to Me.”Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes.So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained.Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

Then a man came from Baal Shalisha, and brought the man of God bread of the firstfruits, twenty loaves of barley bread, and newly ripened grain in his knapsack. And he said,“ Give it to the people, that they may eat.”But his servant said,“ What? Shall I set this before one hundred men?” He said again,“ Give it to the people, that they may eat; for thus says the Lord:‘ They shall eat and have some left over.’”So he set it before them; and they ate and had some left over, according to the word of the Lord.

You shall keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread( you shall eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in the month of Abib, for in it you came out of Egypt; none shall appear before Me empty);

since those days, when one came to a heap of twenty ephahs, there were but ten; when one came to the wine vat to draw out fifty baths from the press, there were but twenty.I struck you with blight and mildew and hail in all the labors of your hands; yet you did not turn to Me,’ says the Lord.‘ Consider now from this day forward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, from the day that the foundation of the LORD’s temple was laid— consider it:Is the seed still in the barn? As yet the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree have not yielded fruit. But from this day I will bless you.’”

But He said to them,“ How many loaves do you have? Go and see.” And when they found out they said,“ Five, and two fish.”Then He commanded them to make them all sit down in groups on the green grass.So they sat down in ranks, in hundreds and in fifties.And when He had taken the five loaves and the two fish, He looked up to heaven, blessed and broke the loaves, and gave them to His disciples to set before them; and the two fish He divided among them all.So they all ate and were filled.And they took up twelve baskets full of fragments and of the fish.Now those who had eaten the loaves were about five thousand men.

So she said,“ As the Lord your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die.”And Elijah said to her,“ Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son.For thus says the Lord God of Israel:‘ The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the Lord sends rain on the earth.’”So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days.The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke by Elijah.
