Now when the tempter came to Him, he said,“ If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”

誘者乃進而謂之曰：『爾苟為天主子、盍命斯石變餅。』

The tempter came to him and said,“ If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

And the tempter came and said to him,“ If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.”

During that time the devil came and said to him,“ If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.”

Then the tempter approached him and said,“ If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

And the tempter came and said to Him,“ If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”

And the tempter came and said unto him, If thou art the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.

Then the tempter approached Him and said,“ If You are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

Now the mixed multitude who were among them yielded to intense craving; so the children of Israel also wept again and said:“ Who will give us meat to eat?We remember the fish which we ate freely in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic;but now our whole being is dried up; there is nothing at all except this manna before our eyes!”

For this reason, when I could no longer endure it, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter had tempted you, and our labor might be in vain.

Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman,“ Has God indeed said,‘ You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”And the woman said to the serpent,“ We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden;but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said,‘ You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’”Then the serpent said to the woman,“ You will not surely die.For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

So Satan answered the Lord and said,“ Skin for skin! Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life.But stretch out Your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will surely curse You to Your face!”And the Lord said to Satan,“ Behold, he is in your hand, but spare his life.”So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord, and struck Job with painful boils from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head.

And the Lord said,“ Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat.But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”

Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven,“ Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

But they sinned even more against Him By rebelling against the Most High in the wilderness.And they tested God in their heart By asking for the food of their fancy.Yes, they spoke against God: They said,“ Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?Behold, He struck the rock, So that the waters gushed out, And the streams overflowed. Can He give bread also? Can He provide meat for His people?”

So Satan answered the Lord and said,“ Does Job fear God for nothing?Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face!”And the Lord said to Satan,“ Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person.” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.

And the children of Israel said to them,“ Oh, that we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat and when we ate bread to the full! For you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”

Now Jacob cooked a stew; and Esau came in from the field, and he was weary.And Esau said to Jacob,“ Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am weary.” Therefore his name was called Edom.But Jacob said,“ Sell me your birthright as of this day.”And Esau said,“ Look, I am about to die; so what is this birthright to me?”Then Jacob said,“ Swear to me as of this day.” So he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob.And Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils; then he ate and drank, arose, and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright.

Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying,“ Truly You are the Son of God.”

lest there be any fornicator or profane person like Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright.

Then he brought Him to Jerusalem, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him,“ If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here.

Immediately he preached the Christ in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God.

And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying,“ This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

And the devil said to Him,“ If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.”
