“人子降临时的情形将像挪亚的时代，人们吃喝嫁娶，一直到挪亚进入方舟那天，洪水来了，毁灭了他们；又像罗得的时代，人们吃喝、做买卖、耕地、盖房。

我们要为人端正，光明磊落，不可荒宴醉酒、好色邪荡、嫉妒纷争。你们要活出主耶稣基督的荣美，不要只顾放纵罪恶本性的私欲。

可是，他们都找借口推辞。头一个说，‘我刚买了一块田，必须去看一看，请恕我不能参加。’另一个说，‘我新买了五对牛，要去试一试，请恕我不能参加。’还有一个说，‘我刚结了婚，所以不能去。’

“你们要小心，不要被宴乐、醉酒和人生的挂虑所拖累，免得那日子像网罗般突然临到你们，

上帝的儿子们看见人的女儿漂亮，就随意选来做妻子。

她回到家时，拿八正在大摆宴席，排场如御宴。她见拿八心情愉快，喝得酩酊大醉，就什么也没告诉他，等第二天早上再说。次日清晨，拿八酒醒以后，他妻子把发生的一切告诉他，他吓得昏死过去，身体僵硬如石。过了十天，耶和华击打拿八，他就死了。

但如果他以为主人不会那么快回来，就殴打仆婢、吃喝醉酒，

看啊，你妹妹所多玛和她的女儿们傲慢狂妄，安逸饱足，对穷困的人漠不关心。她们心骄气傲，在我面前做可憎的事，我看见后便除掉了她们。

因为到复活的时候，人们将不娶也不嫁，就像天上的天使一样。

那时，我就可以对自己说，“你积存这么多财产，一生享用不尽，现在大可高枕无忧、尽情地吃喝玩乐吧！”’

那日，万军之耶和华呼召你们哭泣哀号，剃光头发，身披麻衣。但你们还是欢喜作乐，宰牛杀羊，喝酒吃肉，说：“让我们吃喝吧！因为明天我们就死了。”万军之耶和华启示我说：“你们这罪到死也得不到赦免。这是主——万军之耶和华说的。”

挪亚与妻子、儿子们和儿媳们都进了方舟，躲避洪水。

你们以为灾难的日子离得还远，就大肆施行暴政。你们躺在象牙床上，靠在卧榻上，你们吃养在圈里的肥嫩牛羊。你们伴着琴声唱慵懒的歌，像大卫一样为自己制造乐器。你们以大碗狂饮，用上等膏油抹身，却漠不关心约瑟家的衰亡。

弟兄们，我告诉你们，时日不多了，从今以后，那些有妻子的，要像没有妻子的；哭泣的，要像不哭泣的；欢喜的，要像不欢喜的；置业的，要像一无所有的。享用世界之物的，不要沉溺其中，因为现今的世界很快就要过去了。

他带着大卫找到那里，见亚玛力人正散布在田野间吃喝狂欢，因为他们从非利士和犹大抢夺了很多财物。大卫率领部下从黎明攻打他们，直到次日黄昏。除了四百个青年骑骆驼逃脱外，亚玛力人全军覆没。
