如果不缩短灾期，恐怕没有人能活命。但为了选民的缘故，灾期必被缩短。

若不减少那日子，凡有血气的总没有一个得救的；只是为选民，那日子必减少了。

若不减少那些日子，凡血肉之躯的，就没有一个能得救；可是为了选民，那些日子将减少。

斯時不稍減其日、則無得救者、蓋為所選之民、此日可稍減耳、

若不減其時日、血氣之倫、將無倖全；惟為蒙選者之故、時日必當見減。

如果主不缩短灾期，恐怕没有人能活命，但为了祂所拣选的子民，祂已经缩短灾期。

因为假基督和假先知将出现，行很大的神迹奇事来迷惑人，如果可能，甚至要迷惑上帝拣选的子民。

在响亮的号声中，祂将差遣天使从四面八方、天涯海角招聚祂拣选的人。

难道上帝听到祂拣选的人昼夜呼求，不替他们申冤吗？难道祂会一直耽延不理吗？

我为了上帝所拣选的人忍受一切痛苦，使他们可以获得在基督耶稣里的救恩和永远的荣耀。

在这对孩子还未出生，还没有显出谁善谁恶之前，上帝为了显明自己拣选人并不是按人的行为，而是按祂自己的旨意，

耶和华说：“人发现一串葡萄尚可酿造新酒时，一定会说，‘不要毁坏它，里面还有好葡萄。’同样，因我仆人的缘故，我也不会把他们全部毁灭。“我必使雅各的后裔兴起，使犹大人兴起，继承我的群山。我拣选的子民必拥有那片土地，我的仆人必在那里安居。

弟兄姊妹，我不愿意你们对以下这奥秘一无所知，还自以为聪明。这奥秘就是：虽然有些以色列人的心刚硬，但等到外族人得救的数目满了以后，全以色列都要得救。正如圣经上说：“救主必从锡安出来，祂将除去雅各子孙的罪恶。那时我要除去他们的罪，这是我与他们所立的约。”就福音而论，他们成为上帝的仇敌是为了使你们得到福音；就上帝的拣选而论，因为他们祖先的缘故，他们仍是上帝所爱的。因为上帝绝不会收回祂的恩赐和呼召。你们从前不顺服上帝，然而因为他们的不顺服，你们现在反蒙了怜悯。同样，他们现在不顺服是为了使你们蒙怜悯，好使他们也蒙怜悯。

耶稣又说：“被邀请的人多，选上的人少。”

即使境内只剩下十分之一的人，也必被消灭。然而，就像砍掉松树和橡树后必留下树墩，这地方必有圣洁的苗裔存留下来。”

因为我必招聚万国去攻打耶路撒冷。那时，城必失守，房屋必被洗劫，妇女必被玷污。半城的人必被掳去，剩下的人必留在城中，不会被铲除。

地上三分之二的人必遭铲除、毁灭，只剩下三分之一的人存活。这是耶和华说的。
