Under the old system, the high priest brought the blood of animals into the Holy Place as a sacrifice for sin, and the bodies of the animals were burned outside the camp.So also Jesus suffered and died outside the city gates to make his people holy by means of his own blood.So let us go out to him, outside the camp, and bear the disgrace he bore.

You have condemned and killed innocent people, who do not resist you.

Name one prophet your ancestors didn’t persecute! They even killed the ones who predicted the coming of the Righteous One— the Messiah whom you betrayed and murdered.

So the soldiers, their commanding officer, and the Temple guards arrested Jesus and tied him up.

Jesus said,“ My friend, go ahead and do what you have come for.” Then the others grabbed Jesus and arrested him.

Then Jesus spoke to the leading priests, the captains of the Temple guard, and the elders who had come for him.“ Am I some dangerous revolutionary,” he asked,“ that you come with swords and clubs to arrest me?Why didn’t you arrest me in the Temple? I was there every day. But this is your moment, the time when the power of darkness reigns.”So they arrested him and led him to the high priest’s home. And Peter followed at a distance.

You rejected this holy, righteous one and instead demanded the release of a murderer.You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. And we are witnesses of this fact!

Let me clearly state to all of you and to all the people of Israel that he was healed by the powerful name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, the man you crucified but whom God raised from the dead.

The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead after you killed him by hanging him on a cross.
