耶稣从那里往前走，看见另外两个兄弟，就是西庇太的儿子雅各和他弟弟约翰，正在船上与他们的父亲西庇太一起修补渔网。耶稣就召唤他们，

这时候，忽然有一个麻风病人前来拜他，说：“主啊，如果你愿意，你就能洁净我。”

其中有茉大拉的玛丽亚、雅各和约西的母亲玛丽亚，以及西庇太儿子们的母亲。

这时候，西庇太的儿子雅各和约翰来到耶稣面前，说：“老师，如果我们向你求什么，希望你为我们成全。”耶稣问他们：“要我为你们做什么呢？”他们说：“请准许我们在你的荣耀里，一个坐在你的右边，一个坐在你的左边。”耶稣就说：“你们不知道自己在求什么。我所喝的杯，你们能喝吗？我所受的洗礼，你们能受吗？”他们回答说：“我们能。”耶稣就说：“我所喝的杯你们将要喝，我所受的洗礼你们将要受。但是坐在我的右边或左边，不是我所赐的，而是已经预备给谁，就赐给谁。”其他十个使徒听了，就开始对雅各和约翰很不满。于是耶稣把他们召来，对他们说：“你们知道，外邦人有所谓为首的压制他们，也有为大的管辖他们。但你们当中却不是这样；相反，无论谁想在你们当中为大，谁就该做你们的仆人；无论谁想在你们当中为首，谁就该做大家的奴仆。要知道，就是人子来，也不是为了受人的服事，而是为了服事人，并且献上自己的生命，替许多人做救赎的代价。”

还有一些妇女从远处观看，其中有茉大拉的玛丽亚、小雅各和约西的母亲玛丽亚，以及莎罗美。

船上的人都拜耶稣，说：“你真是神的儿子！”

他们进了屋子，看见那孩子与他的母亲玛丽亚在一起，就俯伏拜那孩子，然后打开他们的宝盒，把黄金、乳香和没药做为礼物献给他。

那妇人来拜他，说：“主啊，求你帮助我！”

他们看见耶稣，就拜他，不过还有人疑惑。
