当一个壮士全副武装地看守自己家园的时候，他所拥有的就平安无事。可是比他更强的人一旦来到，并且胜过了他，就会夺走他所依靠的盔甲兵器，又把掠夺物分给别人。

当那一千年完结了，撒旦就要从它的监禁中被释放出来。它将出去迷惑在大地四角中的列国，就是歌革和玛各，召集他们参与战争；他们的人数多如海沙。他们上来布满了宽阔的大地，包围了圣徒的营地，就是那蒙爱的城。可是有火从天上降下来，吞灭了他们。

因此，我必使他在伟人中分得一份，他必与强者同分战利品，因为他浇奠了自己的性命，以至于死。他被列在罪人当中，却担当了众人的罪，又为罪人代求。”

接着，我看见一位天使从天上降下来，手里拿着无底坑的钥匙和一条大锁链。他抓住了龙——那古蛇，就是魔鬼撒旦，把它捆绑了一千年。这位天使把它丢进无底坑里，关上了无底坑，并用印封上，使它不能再迷惑列国，直到那一千年完结。这些事以后，它必须暂时被释放。

接着，天上发生了战争：米迦勒和他的天使们与龙交战，龙和它的使者们也应战，可是龙不能得胜，天上再也没有它们的地方了。于是那巨龙被摔了下来。它就是那古蛇，被称为魔鬼和撒旦，那迷惑普天下的。它被摔在地上，它的使者们也与它一起被摔了下来。随后，我听见天上有一个大声音说：“我们神的救恩、大能、国度，和他基督的权柄，现在都来到了！因为我们弟兄的控告者，就是那日夜在我们神面前控告他们的，已经被摔下去了。

继续犯罪的人属于魔鬼，因为魔鬼从起初就一直犯罪。为此，神的儿子显现了，是为了废除魔鬼的作为。
