And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted to the heavens? No, you will go down to Hades. For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day.

嗣又離納匝勒而寓居葛法農。其地濱海、毗連西布倫、吶大苓。

聞耶穌已自猶太至加利利、遂趨謁之、懇往救其子、蓋瀕危矣。耶穌曰：『不見靈徵異蹟、爾曹終不願信也。』王臣曰：『主乎！及吾兒未死、懇即辱臨！』耶穌曰：『且返、爾子活矣！』其人信耶穌言、即辭去；其僕遇之途中、告曰：『爾子活矣！』問何時愈、則云：『昨日午後一時、其熱盡退。』父乃憶耶穌言：『爾子活矣！』恰在此時。於是王臣及其眷屬、俱信奉之、是為耶穌在加利利第二靈蹟、返自猶太以後所行者。

蓋自尊者必見抑、而自謙者必見升也。』

昔者天神之干罪也、天主且毅然投之地獄、囚之冥府、以待審判。古時人欲橫流、天主亦不惜使洪水氾濫、僅有宣揚道義之諾厄及同伴七人得濟。又索多馬蛾摩拉二邑亦為天主所黜、而付諸一炬、以為後世不肖之炯戒。當時所全者、惟憂心悄悄、慍於群小之義士羅德一人而已蓋羅德以正直之身、處於群小之中、所見所聞、莫非橫行無道、中心惄焉如擣、無有寧日也。觀此可見天主固知何以脫善人於危難、而將惡人留待審判之日、以受顯罰。

耶穌曰：『爾等必引諺以責予曰：「為醫者、盍先自醫；吾聞汝在葛法農多行奇迹、亦宜行之於故鄉也。」』

予亦語汝、汝乃磐石、予將建吾教會於斯石上、地獄之門、無以勝之。

爾將保吾魂、弗使淪窅冥。寧容聖者軀、沾染朽腐痕。

曰：『輸也。』伯鐸祿入室、耶穌先問曰：『西門於意云何、世之君王、向誰徵課、己子乎？抑外人乎？』

耶穌入葛法農有巴總來求曰：

再加索多馬蛾靡拉及其周鄰諸邑、皆以放縱恣肆、褻行無恥、爰受永火之刑、用垂炯戒。

屍暴大邑通衢、斯邑可譬稱為索多瑪與埃及、即二證所奉之主、亦曾被釘死於此。

偶舉目遙見亞伯漢、與其懷中之辣柴魯、
