“ Remember the law of my servant Moses, to whom at Horeb I gave rules and regulations for all Israel to obey.

爾曹當記憶我僕摩西所傳之律法、即昔在何烈、我命彼傳於以色列民眾之律例法度、

“ Remember the law of my servant Moses, the decrees and laws I gave him at Horeb for all Israel.

“ Remember the law my servant Moses gave you. Remember the rules and laws I gave him at Mount Horeb. They were for the whole nation of Israel.

“ Remember the law of my servant Moses, the statutes and rules that I commanded him at Horeb for all Israel.

“ Remember to obey the Law of Moses, my servant— all the decrees and regulations that I gave him on Mount Sinai for all Israel.

“ Remember the instruction of Moses my servant, the statutes and ordinances I commanded him at Horeb for all Israel.

“ Remember the Law of Moses My servant, the statutes and ordinances which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel.

“ Remember the Law of Moses, My servant, Which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel, With the statutes and judgments.

Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, even statutes and ordinances.

“ Remember the instruction of Moses My servant, the statutes and ordinances I commanded him at Horeb for all Israel.

Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel,[ with] the statutes and judgments.

“ Remember the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded to him in Horeb for all Israel, even statutes and ordinances.

You stood before the LORD your God at Horeb and he said to me,“ Assemble the people before me so that I can tell them my commands. Then they will learn to revere me all the days they live in the land, and they will instruct their children.”

Now those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.If we live by the Spirit, let us also behave in accordance with the Spirit.

But if you show prejudice, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as violators.For the one who obeys the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it.For he who said,“ Do not commit adultery,” also said,“ Do not murder.” Now if you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you have become a violator of the law.Speak and act as those who will be judged by a law that gives freedom.For judgment is merciless for the one who has shown no mercy. But mercy triumphs over judgment.

For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only do not use your freedom as an opportunity to indulge your flesh, but through love serve one another.For the whole law can be summed up in a single commandment, namely,“ You must love your neighbor as yourself.”

“ You shall have no other gods before me.“ You shall not make for yourself a carved image or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above or that is on the earth beneath or that is in the water below.You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I, the LORD, your God, am a jealous God, responding to the transgression of fathers by dealing with children to the third and fourth generations of those who reject me,and showing covenant faithfulness to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.“ You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold guiltless anyone who takes his name in vain.“ Remember the Sabbath day to set it apart as holy.For six days you may labor and do all your work,but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God; on it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, or your male servant, or your female servant, or your cattle, or the resident foreigner who is in your gates.For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth and the sea and all that is in them, and he rested on the seventh day; therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy.“ Honor your father and your mother, that you may live a long time in the land the LORD your God is giving to you.“ You shall not murder.“ You shall not commit adultery.“ You shall not steal.“ You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.“ You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that belongs to your neighbor.”All the people were seeing the thundering and the lightning, and heard the sound of the horn, and saw the mountain smoking– and when the people saw it they trembled with fear and kept their distance.They said to Moses,“ You speak to us and we will listen, but do not let God speak with us, lest we die.”Moses said to the people,“ Do not fear, for God has come to test you, that the fear of him may be before you so that you do not sin.”The people kept their distance, but Moses drew near the thick darkness where God was.

“ Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have not come to abolish these things but to fulfill them.I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth pass away not the smallest letter or stroke of a letter will pass from the law until everything takes place.So anyone who breaks one of the least of these commands and teaches others to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever obeys them and teaches others to do so will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.For I tell you, unless your righteousness goes beyond that of the experts in the law and the Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except by God’s appointment, and the authorities that exist have been instituted by God.So the person who resists such authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will incur judgment( for rulers cause no fear for good conduct but for bad). Do you desire not to fear authority? Do good and you will receive its commendation,for it is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be in fear, for it does not bear the sword in vain. It is God’s servant to administer retribution on the wrongdoer.Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of the wrath of the authorities but also because of your conscience.For this reason you also pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants devoted to governing.Pay everyone what is owed: taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due.Owe no one anything, except to love one another, for the one who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.For the commandments,“ Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not covet,”( and if there is any other commandment) are summed up in this,“ Love your neighbor as yourself.”Love does no wrong to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

But Abraham said,‘ They have Moses and the prophets; they must respond to them.’Then the rich man said,‘ No, father Abraham, but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’He replied to him,‘ If they do not respond to Moses and the prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”

“ These are the decisions that you will set before them:“ If you buy a Hebrew servant, he is to serve you for six years, but in the seventh year he will go out free without paying anything.If he came in by himself he will go out by himself; if he had a wife when he came in, then his wife will go out with him.If his master gave him a wife, and she bore sons or daughters, the wife and the children will belong to her master, and he will go out by himself.But if the servant should declare,‘ I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free,’then his master must bring him to the judges, and he will bring him to the door or the doorposts, and his master will pierce his ear with an awl, and he shall serve him forever.“ If a man sells his daughter as a female servant, she will not go out as the male servants do.If she does not please her master, who has designated her for himself, then he must let her be redeemed. He has no right to sell her to a foreign nation, because he has dealt deceitfully with her.If he designated her for his son, then he will deal with her according to the customary rights of daughters.If he takes another wife, he must not diminish the first one’s food, her clothing, or her marital rights.If he does not provide her with these three things, then she will go out free, without paying money.“ Whoever strikes someone so that he dies must surely be put to death.But if he does not do it with premeditation, but it happens by accident, then I will appoint for you a place where he may flee.But if a man willfully attacks his neighbor to kill him cunningly, you will take him even from my altar that he may die.“ Whoever strikes his father or his mother must surely be put to death.“ Whoever kidnaps someone and sells him, or is caught still holding him, must surely be put to death.“ Whoever treats his father or his mother disgracefully must surely be put to death.“ If men fight, and one strikes his neighbor with a stone or with his fist and he does not die, but must remain in bed,and then if he gets up and walks about outside on his staff, then the one who struck him is innocent, except he must pay for the injured person’s loss of time and see to it that he is fully healed.“ If a man strikes his male servant or his female servant with a staff so that he or she dies as a result of the blow, he will surely be punished.However, if the injured servant survives one or two days, the owner will not be punished, for he has suffered the loss.“ If men fight and hit a pregnant woman and her child is born prematurely, but there is no serious injury, he will surely be punished in accordance with what the woman’s husband demands of him, and he will pay what the court decides.But if there is serious injury, then you will give a life for a life,

Now an expert in religious law stood up to test Jesus, saying,“ Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”He said to him,“ What is written in the law? How do you understand it?”The expert answered,“ Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself.”Jesus said to him,“ You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live.”

Now one of the experts in the law came and heard them debating. When he saw that Jesus answered them well, he asked him,“ Which commandment is the most important of all?”Jesus answered,“ The most important is:‘ Listen, Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’The second is:‘ Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”The expert in the law said to him,“ That is true, Teacher; you are right to say that he is one, and there is no one else besides him.And to love him with all your heart, with all your mind, and with all your strength and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”When Jesus saw that he had answered thoughtfully, he said to him,“ You are not far from the kingdom of God.” Then no one dared any longer to question him.

“ Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?”Jesus said to him,“‘ Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment.The second is like it:‘ Love your neighbor as yourself.’All the law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.”

Do we then nullify the law through faith? Absolutely not! Instead we uphold the law.

The LORD wanted to exhibit his justice by magnifying his law and displaying it.

Now someone came up to him and said,“ Teacher, what good thing must I do to gain eternal life?”He said to him,“ Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”“ Which ones?” he asked. Jesus replied,“ Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony,honor your father and mother, and love your neighbor as yourself.”The young man said to him,“ I have wholeheartedly obeyed all these laws. What do I still lack?”Jesus said to him,“ If you wish to be perfect, go sell your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”But when the young man heard this he went away sorrowful, for he was very rich.

Then you must recall the LORD’s instructions and the prophetic testimony of what would happen. Certainly they say such things because their minds are spiritually darkened.

You study the scriptures thoroughly because you think in them you possess eternal life, and it is these same scriptures that testify about me,but you are not willing to come to me so that you may have life.“ I do not accept praise from people,but I know you, that you do not have the love of God within you.I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not accept me. If someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him.How can you believe, if you accept praise from one another and don’t seek the praise that comes from the only God?“ Do not suppose that I will accuse you before the Father. The one who accuses you is Moses, in whom you have placed your hope.If you believed Moses, you would believe me, because he wrote about me.But if you do not believe what Moses wrote, how will you believe my words?”

Then the LORD called to Moses and spoke to him from the Meeting Tent:“ Speak to the Israelites and tell them,‘ When someone among you presents an offering to the LORD, you must present your offering from the domesticated animals, either from the herd or from the flock.“‘ If his offering is a burnt offering from the herd he must present it as a flawless male; he must present it at the entrance of the Meeting Tent for its acceptance before the LORD.He must lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it will be accepted for him to make atonement on his behalf.Then the one presenting the offering must slaughter the bull before the LORD, and the sons of Aaron, the priests, must present the blood and splash the blood against the sides of the altar which is at the entrance of the Meeting Tent.Next, the one presenting the offering must skin the burnt offering and cut it into parts,and the sons of Aaron, the priest, must put fire on the altar and arrange wood on the fire.

He proclaims his word to Jacob, his statutes and regulations to Israel.He has not done so with any other nation; they are not aware of his regulations. Praise the LORD!

Look! I have taught you statutes and ordinances just as the LORD my God told me to do, so that you might carry them out in the land you are about to enter and possess.So be sure to do them, because this will testify of your wise understanding to the people who will learn of all these statutes and say,“ Indeed, this great nation is a very wise people.”
