Bear fruits in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham.

宜結美果、用副悛悔之心。莫道有亞伯漢為我大父！蓋吾語爾、天主固能化此頑石為亞伯漢之後裔也。

Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.

Live in a way that shows you have turned away from your sins. And don’t start saying to yourselves,‘ Abraham is our father.’ I tell you, God can raise up children for Abraham even from these stones.

Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God. Don’t just say to each other,‘ We’re safe, for we are descendants of Abraham.’ That means nothing, for I tell you, God can create children of Abraham from these very stones.

Therefore produce fruit consistent with repentance. And don’t start saying to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father,’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children for Abraham from these stones.

Again, when a wicked person turns away from the wickedness he has committed and does what is just and right, he shall save his life.Because he considered and turned away from all the transgressions that he had committed, he shall surely live; he shall not die.Yet the house of Israel says,‘ The way of the Lord is not just.’ O house of Israel, are my ways not just? Is it not your ways that are not just?“ Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, declares the Lord God. Repent and turn from all your transgressions, lest iniquity be your ruin.Cast away from you all the transgressions that you have committed, and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! Why will you die, O house of Israel?

but declared first to those in Damascus, then in Jerusalem and throughout all the region of Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, performing deeds in keeping with their repentance.

Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil,learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.“ Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.

Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people producing its fruits.

filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

and command them, saying,‘ Take twelve stones from here out of the midst of the Jordan, from the very place where the priests’ feet stood firmly, and bring them over with you and lay them down in the place where you lodge tonight.’”Then Joshua called the twelve men from the people of Israel, whom he had appointed, a man from each tribe.And Joshua said to them,“ Pass on before the ark of the Lord your God into the midst of the Jordan, and take up each of you a stone upon his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the people of Israel,that this may be a sign among you. When your children ask in time to come,‘ What do those stones mean to you?’then you shall tell them that the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord. When it passed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. So these stones shall be to the people of Israel a memorial forever.”And the people of Israel did just as Joshua commanded and took up twelve stones out of the midst of the Jordan, according to the number of the tribes of the people of Israel, just as the Lord told Joshua. And they carried them over with them to the place where they lodged and laid them down there.

For land that has drunk the rain that often falls on it, and produces a crop useful to those for whose sake it is cultivated, receives a blessing from God.But if it bears thorns and thistles, it is worthless and near to being cursed, and its end is to be burned.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

He answered,“ I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.”

That is why it depends on faith, in order that the promise may rest on grace and be guaranteed to all his offspring— not only to the adherent of the law but also to the one who shares the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all,

They answered him,“ We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say,‘ You will become free’?”

For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.For see what earnestness this godly grief has produced in you, but also what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what longing, what zeal, what punishment! At every point you have proved yourselves innocent in the matter.

and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side.And he called out,‘ Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’But Abraham said,‘ Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish.And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.’And he said,‘ Then I beg you, father, to send him to my father’s house—for I have five brothers— so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment.’But Abraham said,‘ They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’And he said,‘ No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’He said to him,‘ If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.’”

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise.

In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God but you yourselves cast out.And people will come from east and west, and from north and south, and recline at table in the kingdom of God.

and not all are children of Abraham because they are his offspring, but“ Through Isaac shall your offspring be named.”

I tell you, many will come from east and west and recline at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven,while the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

They answered him,“ Abraham is our father.” Jesus said to them,“ If you were Abraham’s children, you would be doing the works Abraham did,

Hear this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and who came from the waters of Judah, who swear by the name of the Lord and confess the God of Israel, but not in truth or right.For they call themselves after the holy city, and stay themselves on the God of Israel; the Lord of hosts is his name.

Do not trust in these deceptive words:‘ This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord.’“ For if you truly amend your ways and your deeds, if you truly execute justice one with another,if you do not oppress the sojourner, the fatherless, or the widow, or shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not go after other gods to your own harm,then I will let you dwell in this place, in the land that I gave of old to your fathers forever.“ Behold, you trust in deceptive words to no avail.Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, make offerings to Baal, and go after other gods that you have not known,and then come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say,‘ We are delivered!’— only to go on doing all these abominations?
