你要凭着智谋去作战；谋士众多，就可得胜。

计划要有筹算才能确立；作战也要倚靠智谋。

后来他从那里迁到伯特利东边的山地，搭起帐棚。西边是伯特利，东边是艾城；他在那里也为耶和华筑了一座祭坛，呼求耶和华的名。

“现在，我差派你们出去，好像羊进到狼群中间；所以你们要像蛇一样机警，像鸽子一样纯洁。

有些便雅悯人住在迦巴、密抹、亚雅、伯特利和属于伯特利的乡村，

他就给那地方起名叫伯特利，但那城起初名叫路斯。

他们的王，一个是耶利哥王，一个是伯特利旁边的艾城王，

所以，你们行事为人要谨慎，不要像愚昧人，却要像聪明人。

于是，嫩的儿子约书亚从什亭秘密地差派两个探子，对他们说：“你们去窥探那地，尤其是耶利哥。”二人去了，来到一个名叫喇合的妓女家中，就在那里住宿。
