But the Israelites were unfaithful in regard to the devoted things; Achan son of Karmi, the son of Zimri, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of them. So the Lord’s anger burned against Israel.

But the Israelites weren’t faithful to the Lord. They didn’t destroy what had been set apart to him. So they did not do what they had been told to do. Achan had taken some of those things. So the Lord became very angry with Israel. Achan was the son of Karmi. Karmi was the son of Zimri. And Zimri was the son of Zerah. Achan and all his relatives were from the tribe of Judah.

But the people of Israel broke faith in regard to the devoted things, for Achan the son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of the devoted things. And the anger of the Lord burned against the people of Israel.

But Israel violated the instructions about the things set apart for the Lord. A man named Achan had stolen some of these dedicated things, so the Lord was very angry with the Israelites. Achan was the son of Carmi, a descendant of Zimri son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah.

The Israelites, however, were unfaithful regarding the things set apart for destruction. Achan son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of what was set apart, and the LORD’s anger burned against the Israelites.

But the sons of Israel acted unfaithfully regarding the things designated for destruction, for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, from the tribe of Judah, took some of the designated things; therefore the anger of the Lord burned against the sons of Israel.

从前谢拉的曾孙亚干，不是在当毁灭的物上犯了不忠的罪，以致神的忿怒临到以色列全体会众吗？因他的罪孽而死的，还不只他一人呢！’”

谢拉的儿子是心利、以探、希幔、甲各和大拉，共五人。迦米的儿子是亚干；这亚干偷取了当毁灭之物，连累了以色列人。

这城要完全毁灭，城和城中的一切都归耶和华；只有妓女喇合，和所有与她在家中的都可以存活，因为她收藏了我们派去的使者。不过你们要谨慎，不可取那当毁灭的物，恐怕你们贪心，取了那当毁灭的物，就使以色列营成为当毁灭的，使以色列营遭遇灾祸。

神不喜悦这事，所以他击打以色列人。

亚干回答约书亚，说：“我实在得罪了耶和华以色列的神；我作过的事是这样的。我在战利品中，看见了一件美丽的示拿衣服、二千二百八十克银子，和一条重五百七十克的金条；我因贪爱这些物件，就把它们拿去了；现在埋藏在我帐棚的地里，银子在底下。”

“耶和华的全体会众这样说：‘你们作的是什么事？竟对以色列的神不忠，今日转离不跟从耶和华，为自己筑了一座坛，背叛了耶和华。

你们要小心，免得有人失去了神的恩典；免得有苦根长起来缠绕你们，因而污染了许多人；又免得有人成为淫乱的和贪恋世俗的，好像以扫一样，为了一点点食物，竟把自己长子的名分出卖了。

祷告说：‘我的神啊，我感觉羞耻惭愧，不敢向我的神你仰面；因为我们的罪孽多至灭顶，我们的罪过滔天。

你们今日竟转离不跟从耶和华吗？今日你们既然背叛耶和华，明日他必向以色列全体会众发怒了。

耶和华又向以色列人发怒，就激动大卫，使他们受害，说：“你去数点一下以色列和犹大的人数吧！”

水手就彼此说：“来吧！让我们抽签，好知道这场灾祸临到我们，是因谁的缘故。”于是他们抽签，结果抽中了约拿。

他们离弃了耶和华他们列祖的神的殿，去事奉亚舍拉和偶像。因为他们的罪，神的忿怒临到犹大和耶路撒冷。

智慧胜于战斗的武器，但一个罪人能破坏许多好事。

听说你们中间竟然有淫乱的事，这样的淫乱在教外人中间都没有，就是有人和他的继母同居。你们还是自高自大！难道你们不该觉得痛心，把作这件事的人从你们中间赶出去吗？我身体虽然不在你们那里，心灵却与你们在一起，好像我亲身在那里审判了作这件事的人，就是当你们奉我们主耶稣的名聚集在一起，我的灵在那里，我们主耶稣的权能也同在的时候，要把这样的人交给撒但，败坏他的身体，使他的灵魂在主的日子可以得救。你们这样自夸是不好的。你们不知道一点面酵能使全团面发起来吗？

主啊！你是公义的；我们满面羞愧，正如今日的光景；我们犹大人、耶路撒冷的居民，和被你赶逐到远近各地的以色列众人，都因对你不忠而满面羞愧。
