Joshua said to all the people,“ This stone has heard everything the Lord said to us. It will be a witness to testify against you if you go back on your word to God.”

耶稣说：“我告诉你们，如果他们闭口不言，这些石头都要呼喊了！”

吕便和迦得人给那座祭坛取名叫“证坛”，意思是这坛在我们中间证明耶和华是上帝。

只是在你们和我们之间，也在彼此的后人之间立个证据，证明我们也献燔祭、平安祭及其他祭事奉耶和华，免得日后你们的子孙对我们的子孙说，‘你们与耶和华一点关系也没有。’万一你们对我们或我们的子孙这样说，我们可以回答说，‘你们看我们祖先筑的这座祭坛跟耶和华的祭坛一模一样，只是这座坛不是用来献燔祭或别的祭，而是作为你们和我们之间的证据！’

“把这律法书放在你们的上帝耶和华的约柜旁，作为指控你们的证据。

诸天啊，请听！大地啊，要侧耳听！耶和华说：“我把孩子抚育成人，他们竟然背叛我。

“诸天啊，请留心听；大地啊，请听我说。

因为我惧怕上帝降灾祸，我无法承担祂的威严。

我们若忍耐到底，就必与祂一同做王。我们若不承认祂，祂也必不承认我们。我们纵然会失信，祂仍然信实可靠，因为祂不能违背自己。”

撒母耳拿了一块石头放在米斯巴和善的中间，称之为以便以谢，说：“耶和华到如今都帮助我们。”

凡公开不承认我的，我在天父面前也必不承认他。

免得我因为饱足就不认你，说：“耶和华是谁呢？”又恐怕我因穷困而偷窃，以致辱没我上帝的名。

当许多祸患和灾难临到他们的时候，这首歌就要成为指控他们的证据，因为这首歌要在他们的子孙中世代流传。虽然我还没有带领他们进入我起誓应许之地，我已经知道他们的心思意念。”

墙上的石头必高声指控你们，房子的梁木必同声响应。

他们自称认识上帝，在行为上却否认祂。他们令人可憎，悖逆成性，一无是处。

来吧，你我立约为证。”于是，雅各拿来一块石头，立作柱子，又吩咐族人去收集石头。他们把石头堆成一堆，在旁边吃喝。拉班称那石堆为伊迦尔·撒哈杜他，雅各却称那石堆为迦累得。拉班说：“今日，这石堆是你我之间的凭证。”因此，那地方名叫迦累得，又叫米斯巴，因为拉班说：“我们分手以后，愿上帝亲自鉴察我们。倘若你虐待我的女儿，或在她们以外另娶妻子，即使没人知道，也有上帝在你我之间做见证。”拉班又说：“看我在你我之间立的这石堆和石柱。这石堆和石柱都是凭证，我一定不会越过石堆去害你，你也不可越过石堆和石柱来害我。

“现在，你要写一首歌，教导以色列人，让他们背诵，作为我指控他们的证据。

今天，我叫天地为你们作证，我已把生死祸福摆在你们面前。选择生命吧，以便你们及子孙可以存活。

否则，今天我叫天地作证，你们必很快从约旦河对面将要占领的土地上灭亡，你们必被彻底消灭，不得在那里长久居住。

‘我知道你的行为，你力量微小，却遵守了我的教导，没有背弃我的名。所以，看啊！我在你面前为你打开了一扇无人能关闭的门。
