The first lot came out for the Kohathites, according to their clans. The Levites who were descendants of Aaron the priest were allotted thirteen towns from the tribes of Judah, Simeon and Benjamin.

The first lot drawn out was for the people of Kohath, according to their family groups. Some of the Levites came from the family line of Aaron the priest. They were given 13 towns from the tribes of Judah, Simeon and Benjamin.

The lot came out for the clans of the Kohathites. So those Levites who were descendants of Aaron the priest received by lot from the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin, thirteen cities.

The descendants of Aaron, who were members of the Kohathite clan within the tribe of Levi, were allotted thirteen towns that were originally assigned to the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin.

Now these are their settlements according to their camps within their borders. To the sons of Aaron of the families of the Kohathites( for theirs was the first lot),to them they gave Hebron in the land of Judah and its pasture lands around it;but they gave the fields of the city and its settlements to Caleb the son of Jephunneh.To the sons of Aaron they gave the following cities of refuge: Hebron, Libnah together with its pasture lands, Jattir, Eshtemoa with its pasture lands,Hilen with its pasture lands, Debir with its pasture lands,Ashan with its pasture lands, and Beth shemesh with its pasture lands;and from the tribe of Benjamin: Geba with its pasture lands, Allemeth with its pasture lands, and Anathoth with its pasture lands. Their cities throughout their families were thirteen cities in all.

And Eleazar the son of Aaron died; and they buried him at Gibeah, the town of his son Phinehas, which was given to him in the hill country of Ephraim.

Now the sons of Israel gave by lot to the Levites these cities with their pasture lands, as the Lord had commanded through Moses.They gave these cities which are mentioned here by name from the tribe of the sons of Judah and from the tribe of the sons of Simeon;and they were for the sons of Aaron, one of the families of the Kohathites, of the sons of Levi, because the lot was theirs first.So they gave them Kiriath arba( Arba being the father of Anak), that is, Hebron, in the hill country of Judah, with its surrounding pasture lands.But the fields of the city and its villages they gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh as his possession.So to the sons of Aaron the priest they gave Hebron, the city of refuge for the one who commits manslaughter, with its pasture lands, Libnah with its pasture lands,Jattir with its pasture lands, Eshtemoa with its pasture lands,Holon with its pasture lands, Debir with its pasture lands,Ain with its pasture lands, Juttah with its pasture lands, and Beth shemesh with its pasture lands; nine cities from these two tribes.From the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon with its pasture lands, Geba with its pasture lands,Anathoth with its pasture lands, and Almon with its pasture lands; four cities.All the cities of the sons of Aaron, the priests, were thirteen cities with their pasture lands.
