「祭司啊，要聽！以色列家啊，要留心聽！王室啊，要側耳聽！這是對你們的審判，因為你們像設在米斯巴的圈套，鋪在他泊山的網羅。

那將是烏雲密佈、天昏地暗的日子。來了一支空前絕後、強盛無比的蝗蟲大軍，牠們像曙光一樣佈滿山頭。

「你要請教先輩，探究祖先的經驗。

唉！無比可怕的日子快來了，那將是雅各子孫的苦難之日，但他們必得拯救。」

有耳朵的，都應當聽。」

雅各家的首領，以色列家的統治者啊，你們要聽！你們厭惡正義，顛倒是非；

我們這裡有白髮老人，比你父親還年長。

你們要定一個禁食的日子，舉行莊嚴的聚會，召集全國的長老和人民，到你們的上帝耶和華的殿中，向耶和華呼求。

「那時，守護你本國人民的天使長米迦勒必出現。將有一段災難時期，是開國以來從未有過的。那時，你同胞中凡名字記在冊子上的，必得拯救。

住在撒瑪利亞山上的巴珊肥母牛啊，你們要聽！你們壓榨貧寒人，欺凌窮苦人，又使喚丈夫倒酒暢飲。

「你們可以查考歷史，自上帝創造世人以來，這樣的奇事，天地之間何曾有過？誰曾聽聞？有哪個民族像你們一樣，聽見了上帝在火中說話，還活了下來？有哪個神明像你們的上帝耶和華那樣在埃及當著你們的面降災禍、行神蹟奇事、興起戰爭、伸出臂膀、施展大能的手、以偉大而可畏的作為拯救一族脫離異邦？耶和華行這樣的事，是要叫你們知道祂是上帝，除祂以外，別無他神。

『聽著，你們這群愚昧無知的人啊，你們視而不見，聽而不聞。

以色列人啊，你們要留心聽耶和華的話。祂指控住在這片土地上的居民，說：「這片土地上的人不忠不信，毫無良善，不認識上帝。

萬民啊，你們都要聽！大地和地上的萬物啊，你們要側耳傾聽！主耶和華從祂的聖殿裡作證指控你們。

「以色列人啊，要聽耶和華責備你們的話，責備我從埃及領出來的整個民族的話，

『聖靈對各教會所說的話，凡有耳朵的都應當聽。我必將上帝樂園中生命樹上的果子賜給得勝者吃。』

我說：「雅各的首領，以色列家的統治者啊！你們要聽！難道你們不知正義嗎？

智慧與老人相伴，知識與長者為伍。

以色列家啊，聽我為你們唱哀歌：

為何惡人活著，得享長壽，勢力強大？

「之後，耶和華必讓亞述王來攻擊你們。這是你全家及你的人民自以色列與猶大分裂以來從未有的日子。

萬民啊，你們要聽！世人啊，

列國啊，近前來聽吧！列邦啊，留心聽吧！大地和地上的萬物、世界和世上的一切都要聽。

因為那時世上將有空前絕後的大災難。
