但願人與上帝之間有仲裁者，如同人與人之間。

愿人得与神辩白，如同人与朋友辩白一样；

愿人可与上帝理论，如同人与朋友一样；

願人得與神辯白，如同人與朋友辯白一樣；

願人可與神理論，如同人與朋友一樣；

但願人得以同上帝辯訴，就如同人跟朋友訴說一樣。

願上帝為人辨冤於其前、並在人之鄰里中、

願得在上帝前、明辨其冤、如與同儕言者然、

願世人得與天主辯論、如人與人辯論然、

He makes his appeal to God to help me as a person pleads for a friend.

I need someone to mediate between God and me, as a person mediates between friends.

「跟造物主爭辯的人有禍了！他不過是世上瓦器中的一件。陶泥怎能對陶匠說，『你在做什麽』？受造之物怎能說，『造我的沒手藝』？

若能拿開祂責打我的刑杖，使我不再受祂的驚嚇，我就會放膽發言，不必對祂心存恐懼，但現在我卻不能這樣。

我想和全能者對話，我渴望跟上帝理論。

耶和華又對約伯說：「強辯者豈可與全能者爭論？與上帝辯駁的人請作出答覆。」約伯回答耶和華說：「我這樣卑微，怎能答覆你？我只有用手掩口。我說了一次，不能答覆；說了兩次，不敢再說。」

「但願有人聽我申訴！看啊，我在這裡畫押，願全能者回答我！願我的控訴者寫好狀詞！

你這個人啊！你是誰啊？竟敢頂撞上帝！受造之物怎能對造物主說：「你為什麼把我造成這樣？」

但願我知道何處能尋見上帝，知道怎樣去祂的居所。我好在祂面前陳明案情，滔滔不絕地為自己申辯；我好知道祂的答覆，看看祂對我說什麼。祂會用大能與我爭辯嗎？不會的，祂會垂聽我的申訴，允許正直的人與祂理論，審判者會讓我永遠脫罪。

這樣，你傳喚我，我必回應；或者讓我陳述，你來回答。

一切存在的事物都已有了名字，人的本質也被識透了；人無法與比他更強的較量。
