那时你们在过犯和罪恶中行事为人，随着时代的潮流，也服从空中掌权的首领，就是现今在悖逆的人身上运行的灵。

就在那时候，有几个在那里的人，把加利利人的事告诉耶稣，就是彼拉多把他们的血和他们的祭物搀在一起的事。他回答：“你们以为这些加利利人比其他的加利利人更有罪，才这样受害吗？不是的，我告诉你们，你们若不悔改，都要这样灭亡。你们以为从前西罗亚楼倒塌的时候，压死的那十八个人，比一切在耶路撒冷的居民更有罪吗？不是的，我告诉你们，你们若不悔改，也都要这样灭亡。”

到那时，必有话对这人民和耶路撒冷说：“有一阵热风从旷野光秃的高冈，刮向我的子民（“我的子民”原文作“我子民的女子”），不是为簸散，也不是为扬净；这过强的风要为我刮来，我就要向他们宣告我的判词。”

他们的父亲雅各对他们说：“你们总是使我丧失儿子：约瑟没有了，西缅也没有了，你们还要把便雅悯带走；每一件事都是针对我。”

王悲恸得全身发抖，就上城楼去哀哭。他一面走一面这样说：“我儿押沙龙啊！我儿，我儿押沙龙啊！但愿我替你死。押沙龙啊！我儿，我儿啊！”（本节在《马索拉文本》为19:1）
