我必將猶大王西底家和他的眾領袖交在仇敵和尋索其命的人手中，與那暫時離你們而去的巴比倫王軍隊的手中。

猶大王西底家必不能逃脫迦勒底人的手，定要交在巴比倫王手中，他要親眼看到巴比倫王，親口跟他說話。

以後，我要將猶大王西底家和他的臣僕百姓，就是在城內，從瘟疫、刀劍、饑荒中倖存的人，都交在巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒手中，交在仇敵和尋索其命的人手中。巴比倫王必用刀擊殺他們，不顧惜，不同情，不憐憫。這是耶和華說的。』

「人必將你的后妃和你的兒女帶到迦勒底人那裏；你也不得脫離他們的手，必被巴比倫王的手捉住，這城也必被火焚燒。」

你們說：「不然，我們要騎馬奔走」，所以你們必然奔走。你們又說：「我們要騎快馬」，所以追趕你們的，也必飛快。一人叱喝，令千人逃跑，五人叱喝，你們都逃跑；以致剩下的如山頂的旗杆，如山岡上的大旗。

追趕我們的比空中的鷹更快；他們在山上追逼我們，在曠野埋伏，等候我們。耶和華的受膏者是我們鼻中的氣，被抓到他們的坑裏，論到他，我們曾說：「我們必在他蔭下，在列國中存活。」

我看見主站在祭壇旁，說：「你要擊打柱頂，使門檻震動，要剪除眾人當中為首的，他們中最後的，我必用刀殺戮；無一人能逃避，無一人能逃脫。「雖然他們挖透陰間，我的手必從那裏拉出他們；雖然他們爬到天上，我必從那裏拿下他們；雖然藏在迦密山頂，我必在那裏搜尋，擒拿他們；雖然離開我眼前藏在海底，我必在那裏命令蛇咬他們；雖然被仇敵擄去，我也必在那裏命令刀劍殺戮他們；我必定睛在他們身上，降禍不降福。」

他們中間的君王也必在天黑時把物件背在肩上帶走。他們要挖通牆壁，從其中帶出去。他必蒙住臉，眼看不見地。我要把我的網撒在他身上，他就被我的羅網纏住。我要帶他到迦勒底人之地的巴比倫；他沒有看見那地，就死在那裏。我要把四圍幫助他的和他所有的軍隊分散到四方，也要拔刀追趕他們。

耶利米又對西底家王說：「我在甚麼事上得罪你，或你的臣僕，或這百姓，你們竟將我囚在監裏呢？

快跑的無從避難，壯士無法使力，勇士也不能自救；拿弓的站立不住，腿快的不能逃脫，騎馬的也不能自救。

我要把我的網撒在他身上，他就被我的羅網纏住。我要帶他到巴比倫，在那裏因他背叛我的罪懲罰他。所有逃跑的軍隊必倒在刀下；剩餘的也必分散四方。你們就知道說這話的是我－耶和華。」
