迦勒底人環攻其城、而陷之、武士出城、由門旁夾道、近於王囿、夤夜而遁、士卒四散、王望坦途而往、迦勒底軍追襲其後至耶利哥之坦途、執之、

於是城破、迦勒底人在城四圍、王與諸戰士由近王園兩城中之門、夜間出城而遁、望平原平原或作亞拉巴下同而走、

Then the city wall was broken through, and the whole army fled. They left the city at night through the gate between the two walls near the king’s garden, though the Babylonians were surrounding the city. They fled toward the Arabah,

Then the Babylonians broke through the city wall. Judah’s whole army ran away. They left the city at night. They went out through the gate between the two walls that were near the king’s garden. They escaped even though the Babylonians surrounded the city. Judah’s army ran toward the Arabah Valley.

Then a breach was made in the city, and all the men of war fled and went out from the city by night by the way of a gate between the two walls, by the king’s garden, and the Chaldeans were around the city. And they went in the direction of the Arabah.

猶大王西底家和所有士兵看見他們，就在夜間從靠近王的花園、兩城牆中間的門逃跑出城，往亞拉巴逃去。迦勒底的軍隊追趕他們，在耶利哥的平原追上西底家，將他逮住，帶到哈馬地的利比拉、巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒那裏；尼布甲尼撒就判他的罪。在利比拉，巴比倫王在西底家眼前殺了他的兒女；巴比倫王又殺了猶大所有的貴族，並且挖了西底家的眼睛，用銅鏈鎖住他，要帶到巴比倫去。

渡口被佔據了，蘆葦被火焚燒，戰士都驚慌。

它的壯丁必仆倒在街上，當那日，戰士全都靜默無聲。這是萬軍之耶和華說的。

「耶和華－以色列的上帝說，你去告訴猶大王西底家，耶和華如此說：看哪，我要把這城交在巴比倫王的手中，他必用火焚燒。你必不能逃脫他的手，定被拿住，交在他手中。你要親眼看到巴比倫王，他要親口跟你說話，你也必到巴比倫去。

若非他們的磐石賣了他們，若非耶和華交出他們，一人豈能追趕千人，二人焉能使萬人逃跑呢？

我要向你們變臉，使你們敗在仇敵的面前。恨惡你們的必管轄你們；無人追趕，你們卻要逃跑。

至於你們倖存的人，我要使他們在敵人之地心中驚慌，甚至風吹落葉的聲音也把他們嚇跑。他們要逃避，像人逃避刀劍，雖無人追趕，卻要跌倒。

「耶和華必使你在仇敵面前潰敗。你從一條路去攻擊他們，必從七條路逃跑。地上萬國必因你而驚駭。

主啊，求求你，以色列人既在仇敵面前轉身逃跑，我還有甚麼可說的呢？迦南人和這地所有的居民聽見了就必圍困我們，把我們的名從地上除去。那時，你為你至大的名要怎樣做呢？」耶和華對約書亞說：「起來！你的臉為何這樣俯伏呢？以色列犯了罪，又違背了我所吩咐他們的約，又取了當滅之物。他們又偷竊，又行詭詐，又把那當滅的物與自己的器皿放在一起。因此，以色列人在仇敵面前站立不住。他們在仇敵面前轉身逃跑，因為他們成了當滅的物。你們若不把當滅的物從你們中間除掉，我就不再與你們同在了。
