“ The nations say,‘ We would have healed Babylon. But it can’t be healed. So let’s leave it. Let’s each go to our own land. Babylon’s sins reach all the way to the skies. They rise up as high as the heavens.’

他使眾人絆跌，倒在一起；他們說：‘起來！我們要回到我們本族，和我們出生之地那裡去，躲避欺壓者的刀劍。’

禱告說：‘我的神啊，我感覺羞恥慚愧，不敢向我的神你仰面；因為我們的罪孽多至滅頂，我們的罪過滔天。

那裡有一位耶和華的先知名叫俄德，出來迎接回到撒瑪利亞來的軍隊，對他們說：“耶和華你們列祖的神因為惱怒猶大人，才把他們交在你們手裡，你們卻怒氣沖天，殺戮了他們。

你所勞碌的事，都要這樣與你無益；從你年幼時與你交易的，也都必各奔各方，四處飄流，沒有人拯救你。”

“收割期已過，夏天也結束；但我們仍未獲救。”

你所見的樹漸長，而且堅強，高達於天，全地的人都看得到。它的葉子美麗，果實繁多，所有的生物都從它得到食物；野地的走獸住在它下面，空中的飛鳥棲在它的枝頭上。王啊！你就是那樹，越來越偉大堅強；你的威勢漸長，高達於天；你的權柄直到地極。

她們去買油的時候，新郎來了；準備好了的童女就和他一同進去參加婚筵，門就關上了。後來，其餘的童女也來到，說：‘主啊，主啊，給我們開門吧！’新郎卻回答：‘我實在告訴你們，我不認識你們。’所以你們要警醒，因為不知道那日子和那時間。

它中間的雇傭兵像棚裡的肥牛犢，他們一同轉身逃跑，沒有一個站立得住；因為他們遭災的日子、受懲罰的時候，已經臨到他們身上。
