人都等於畜類，毫無知識；銀匠都因其雕像而慚愧；因為他鑄的象都是虛假，裏面並無氣息。

人皆冥頑無知、金匠因其雕像而羞慚、所鑄之像、乃為虛偽、內無氣息、

維彼偶像、崇之者愚蠢、鑄之者蒙羞、偶像偽物、生氣不存、

人不明此理、甚為愚魯、匠人必因所製偶像慚愧、蓋所鑄之偶像乃虛偽、內無生氣、

“ Everyone is senseless and without knowledge; every goldsmith is shamed by his idols. The images he makes are a fraud; they have no breath in them.

“ No one has any sense. No one knows anything. Everyone who works with gold is put to shame by his wooden gods. His metal gods are fakes. They can’t even breathe.

Every man is stupid and without knowledge; every goldsmith is put to shame by his idols, for his images are false, and there is no breath in them.

The whole human race is foolish and has no knowledge! The craftsmen are disgraced by the idols they make, for their carefully shaped works are a fraud. These idols have no breath or power.

Everyone is stupid and ignorant. Every goldsmith is put to shame by his carved image, for his cast images are a lie; there is no breath in them.

Every person is stupid, devoid of knowledge; Every goldsmith is put to shame by his idols, For his cast metal images are deceitful, And there is no breath in them.

Everyone is dull-hearted, without knowledge; Every metalsmith is put to shame by the carved image; For his molded image is falsehood, And there is no breath in them.

Every man is become brutish and is without knowledge; every goldsmith is put to shame by his image; for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.

Everyone is stupid and ignorant. Every goldsmith is put to shame by his carved image, for his cast images are a lie; there is no breath in them.

Every man is brutish by[ his] knowledge; every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image[ is] falsehood, and[ there is] no breath in them.

All idolaters will prove to be stupid and ignorant. Every goldsmith will be disgraced by the idol he made. For the image he forges is merely a sham. There is no breath in any of those idols.

人人都是頑梗無知；所有的金匠都因偶像羞愧，因為他們鑄造的像都是虛假、沒有氣息的。

雕刻的像有甚麼用處呢？不過是匠人雕刻出來的；鑄造的像、虛假的教師，有甚麼用處呢？匠人竟倚靠自己所做，那不能說話的假神。你這對木頭說“起來”，對啞石說“醒吧”的人，有禍了！它怎能教導你呢？看哪！它包金鑲銀，裡面卻全無氣息。

耶和華從天上察看世人，要看看有明慧的沒有，有尋求神的沒有。

他們並不知道，也不明白；因為耶和華閉住他們的眼睛，使他們不能看見，塞住他們的心，使他們不能明白。沒有人細心思想，也沒有人有知識有聰明說：“我把木頭的一半放在火裡燃燒，我也在炭火上烘過餅，烤過肉吃，剩下的，我卻用來做了一個可憎之物，我要向木頭叩拜嗎？”他所追求的只是灰塵，被迷惑了的心使他偏離正道了；他不能救自己，也不會說：“在我的右手中不是有個假神嗎？”

有耳卻不能聽，口中也沒有氣息。做偶像的必和它們一樣，所有倚靠它們的也必這樣。

做偶像的必和偶像一樣；凡是倚靠它們的，都必這樣。

愚頑人心裡說：“沒有神。”他們都是敗壞，行了可憎的不義；沒有一個行善的。神從天上察看世人，要看看有明慧的沒有，有尋求神的沒有，

其實自從創世以來，神那看不見的事，就如他永恆的大能和神性，都是看得見的，就是從他所造的萬物中可以領悟，叫人沒有辦法推諉。因為他們雖然知道神，卻不尊他為神，也不感謝他，反而心思變為虛妄，愚頑的心就迷糊了。他們自以為是聰明的，卻成了愚蠢的。他們用必朽壞的人、飛禽、走獸和昆蟲的形象，取代了永不朽壞的神的榮耀。

“你們要在列國中傳揚和宣告，要豎起旗幟宣揚，不可隱瞞，說：‘巴比倫被攻取了！彼勒蒙羞，米羅達驚慌；巴比倫的神像都蒙羞，它的偶像都驚慌。’

耶和華啊！你的工作多麼偉大，你的心思極為深奧。無理性的人不曉得，愚昧的人不明白這事：

它們有口，卻不能說話；有眼，卻不能看；

因為經上記著說：“我要滅絕智慧人的智慧，廢棄聰明人的聰明。”智慧人在哪裡？經學家在哪裡？今世的辯士在哪裡？神不是使屬世的智慧變成了愚笨嗎？因為在神的智慧裡，世人憑自己的智慧，既然不能認識神，神就樂意藉著所傳的愚笨的道理，去拯救那些信的人。
