刀剑必攻击迦勒底人，攻击巴比伦的居民，攻击它的领袖和智慧人。”这是耶和华的宣告。

“ A sword against the Babylonians!” declares the Lord—“ against those who live in Babylon and against her officials and wise men!

“ A sword is coming against the Babylonians!” announces the Lord.“ It is coming against those who live in Babylon. It is coming against their officials and wise men.

“ A sword against the Chaldeans, declares the Lord, and against the inhabitants of Babylon, and against her officials and her wise men!

“ The sword of destruction will strike the Babylonians,” says the Lord.“ It will strike the people of Babylon— her officials and wise men, too.

A sword is over the Chaldeans— this is the LORD’s declaration— against those who live in Babylon, against her officials, and against her sages.

A sword against the Chaldeans,” declares the Lord,“ And against the inhabitants of Babylon And against her leaders and her wise men!

“ A sword is against the Chaldeans,” says the Lord,“ Against the inhabitants of Babylon, And against her princes and her wise men.

A sword is upon the Chaldeans, saith Jehovah, and upon the inhabitants of Babylon, and upon her princes, and upon her wise men.

A sword is over the Chaldeans— this is the Lord’s declaration— against those who live in Babylon, against her officials, and against her sages.

A sword[ is] upon the Chaldeans, saith the LORD, and upon the inhabitants of Babylon, and upon her princes, and upon her wise[ men].

“ Destructive forces will come against the Babylonians,” says the LORD.“ They will come against the people who inhabit Babylonia, against her leaders and her men of wisdom.

“ A sword is on the Chaldeans,” says Yahweh,“ and on the inhabitants of Babylon, on her princes, and on her wise men.

耶和华的刀剑哪，你要到几时才止息呢？要入鞘，安静不动。

刀剑必临到他们的城镇，毁坏门闩，吞灭众人，都因他们自己的计谋。

当夜，迦勒底王伯沙撒被杀。

大声吩咐将巫师、迦勒底人和观兆的领进来。王对巴比伦的智慧人说：“谁能读这文字，并且向我讲解它的意思，他必身穿紫袍，项带金链，在我国中位列第三。”于是王所有的智慧人都进前来，他们却不能读那文字，也不能为王讲解它的意思。

我必使巴比伦的领袖、智慧人、省长、官员和勇士都喝醉，使他们永远沉睡，不再醒起。这是名为万军之耶和华的君王说的。

伯沙撒王为他的一千大臣摆设盛筵，与这一千人饮酒。伯沙撒在欢饮之间，吩咐人将他父尼布甲尼撒从耶路撒冷圣殿所掳掠的金银器皿拿来，好使王与大臣、王后、妃嫔用这器皿饮酒。

所以它的壮丁必仆倒在街上。当那日，它的士兵全都必静默无声。这是耶和华说的。

我从北方兴起一人，他从日出之地而来，是求告我名的；他必踩踏掌权者，如踩踏泥土，又如陶匠踹泥一般。

万国的王啊，谁不敬畏你？敬畏你本是合宜的；列国所有的智慧人中，在他们一切的国度里，都没有能与你相比的。

智慧人惭愧，惊惶，被擒拿；看哪，他们背弃耶和华的话，还会有什么智慧呢？

耶和华的话临到我，说：

耶和华必以火与刀审判凡有血肉之躯的，被耶和华所杀的很多。

琐安的官长极其愚昧，法老智慧的谋士筹划愚谋；你们怎敢对法老说：“我是智慧人的子孙，是古代国王的后裔？”你的智慧人在哪里？万军之耶和华向埃及所定的旨意，他们既然知道，就让他们告诉你吧！琐安的官长愚昧，挪弗的官长受蒙蔽；作埃及支派栋梁的，带领埃及走错了路。

祸哉！无用的牧人丢弃羊群，刀必临到他的膀臂和右眼上；他的膀臂必全然枯干，他的右眼也必昏暗失明。”

我使虚谎的预兆失效，愚弄占卜的人，使智慧人退后，使他的知识变为愚拙；

我要使刀剑临到你们，报复你们的背约。你们若被赶入城中，我要降瘟疫在你们中间，把你们交在仇敌手中。

你筹划太多，以致疲倦。让那些观天象，看星宿，在初一说预言的都起来，救你脱离所要临到你的事！看哪，他们要像碎秸被火焚烧，无法救自己脱离火焰的魔掌；没有炭火可以取暖，你也不能坐在火旁。

所以，看哪，我要在这百姓中行奇妙的事，就是奇妙又奇妙的事。他们智慧人的智慧必然消灭，聪明人的聪明必然消失。”

他们食欲一来的时候，我必为他们摆设酒席，使他们沉醉，好叫他们快乐；他们睡了长觉，永不醒起。这是耶和华说的。

要杀它一切的牛犊，使它们下去遭杀戮。他们有祸了，因为他们的日子，就是他们受罚的时刻已经来到。
