于是，西底家王下令，他们就把耶利米交在护卫兵的院中，每天从饼铺街取一个饼给他，直到城中的饼用尽了。这样，耶利米仍在护卫兵的院中。

乌赛的儿子巴拉修造对着城墙的转弯和王上宫凸出来的城楼，靠近护卫院的那一段。其次是巴录的儿子毗大雅修造。（

他们就拿住耶利米，下在哈米勒的儿子玛基雅的牢狱里；那牢狱在护卫兵的院中。他们用绳子将耶利米系下去。牢狱里没有水，只有淤泥，耶利米就陷在淤泥中。

耶利米还囚在护卫兵的院内，耶和华的话第二次临到他说：

我叔叔的儿子哈拿篾果然照耶和华的话来到护卫兵的院内，对我说：“我在便雅悯境内、亚拿突的那块地，求你买来；因你买来是合乎承受之理，是你当赎的。你为自己买来吧！”我耶利米就知道这是耶和华的话。

应当欢喜快乐，因为你们在天上的赏赐是大的。在你们以前的先知，人也是这样逼迫他们。”

耶利米吩咐巴录说：“我被拘管，不能进耶和华的殿。

因为犹大王西底家已将他囚禁，说：“你为什么预言说，耶和华如此说：‘我必将这城交在巴比伦王的手中，他必攻取这城。

护卫长尼布撒拉旦和尼布沙斯班、拉撒力、尼甲沙利薛、拉墨，并巴比伦王的一切官长，打发人去，将耶利米从护卫兵院中提出来，交与沙番的孙子亚希甘的儿子基大利，带回家去。于是耶利米住在民中。耶利米还囚在护卫兵院中的时候，耶和华的话临到他说：
