Abimelek son of Jerub-Baal went to his mother’s brothers in Shechem and said to them and to all his mother’s clan,

Abimelek was the son of Jerub- Baal. He went to his mother’s brothers in Shechem. He spoke to them and to all the members of his mother’s family group. He said,

以色列人中、凡欲赴王前求判者、押沙龍皆如此待之、於是押沙龍陰得陰得原文作竊以色列人心、

雅各自巴旦亞蘭來時、安然至迦南地之示劍邑、或作至迦南地示劍之撒冷邑

羅波安往示劍、蓋以色列人眾至彼、欲立之為王、

叛逆主之敵人喧譁、怨憾主者昂首、設奸計以害主之百姓、彼此商議、以攻主所庇蔭之民、曰、我儕莫若勦絕斯人、使之不再成國、使以色列之名、更無人記憶、

為彼地牧伯希未人哈末子示劍所見、乃執其偕寢而玷辱之、
