于是那五个人离开了，来到拉亿，看见那里的人民安然居住，好像西顿人一样，生活平静安稳；在那地又没有人掌权，使他们受屈辱（“在那地又没有人掌权，使他们受屈辱”原文意思不明确，或译﹕“他们在地上没缺什么，且拥有财富”）；他们离西顿人也很远，也没有与别人来往。

他们上去窥探了那地，从寻的旷野到利合，直到哈玛关口。

他又说：“受压制的西顿居民哪，你们不再有欢乐了！起来，过到塞浦路斯去！就是在那里，你们也得不到安息。”

西顿啊，要惭愧！因为大海说过，就是海上的保障说过：“我没有受过产痛，也没有生产；我没有养大过男孩，也没有抚养过童女。”

现在，如果你们想清楚，一听见角、笛、琵琶、弦琴、竖琴、风笛和各种乐器的声音，就俯伏向我所做的像下拜，那还可以。如果你们不下拜，就必立刻扔在烈火的窑中。哪里有神能救你们脱离我的手呢？”沙得拉、米煞、亚伯尼歌回答王说：“尼布甲尼撒啊！这件事我们无需回答你。如果我们被扔在火窑里，我们所事奉的神必能拯救我们；王啊！他必拯救我们脱离烈火的窑和你的手。（本节或译：“如果我们所事奉的神能拯救我们，王啊！他必拯救我们脱离烈火的窑和你的手。”）

耶和华把他们交在以色列人手里，以色列人就击杀他们，追赶他们直到西顿大城、米斯利弗．玛音，以及在东边的米斯巴谷；以色列人击杀他们，没有留下一个。

免得他们像狮子一般把我撕裂，把我撕碎的时候，也没有人搭救。

忘记神的人哪！你们要思想这事，免得我把你们撕碎，没有人能搭救。

在那些日子，以色列中没有王。那时，但支派还在寻找可居住的地业，因为直到那一天，在以色列的众支派中，但支派仍没有得着地业。

婢女有两个儿子；有一天，他们两人在田里打架，当时没有人劝开他们，这个就击打那个，竟把他打死了。
