Who is this who comes from Edom, dressed in bright red, coming from Bozrah? Who is this one wearing royal attire, who marches confidently because of his great strength?“ It is I, the one who announces vindication, and who is able to deliver!”

The sword of the Lord will finish its deadly work in the sky. Then it will come down to strike Edom. He will totally destroy that nation.His sword will be red with blood. It will be covered with fat. The blood will flow like the blood of lambs and goats being sacrificed. The fat will be like the fat taken from the kidneys of rams. That’s because the Lord will offer a sacrifice in the city of Bozrah. He will kill many people in the land of Edom.

Lord, remember what the people of Edom did on the day Jerusalem fell.“ Tear it down!” they cried.“ Tear it down to the ground!”

God isn’t a mere human. He can’t lie. He isn’t a human being. He doesn’t change his mind. He speaks, and then he acts. He makes a promise, and then he keeps it.

The Lord your God is with you. He is the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you. In his love he will no longer punish you. Instead, he will sing for joy because of you.”

He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood. His name is the Word of God.

People now come to God through him. And he is able to save them completely and for all time. Jesus lives forever. He prays for them.

“ Who is this woman coming up from the desert? She’s leaning on the one who loves her.”“ Under the apple tree I woke you up. That’s where your mother became pregnant with you. She went into labor, and you were born there.

Through faith you are kept safe by God’s power. Your salvation is going to be completed. It is ready to be shown to you in the last days.

The Lord says,“ The people of Edom have sinned again and again. So I will judge them. They chased Israel with swords that were ready to strike them down. They killed the women of the land. They were angry all the time. Their anger was like a fire that blazed out. It could not be stopped.So I will send fire to destroy the city of Teman. It will burn up Bozrah’s forts.”

Open wide, you gates. Open up, you ancient doors. Then the King of glory will come in.Who is the King of glory? The Lord, who is strong and mighty. The Lord, who is mighty in battle.Open wide, you gates. Open wide, you ancient doors. Then the King of glory will come in.Who is he, this King of glory? The Lord who rules over all. He is the King of glory.

I have not spoken in secret. I have not spoken from a dark place. I have not said to Jacob’s people,‘ It is useless to look for me.’ I am the Lord. I always speak the truth. I always say what is right.

They said,“ Lord God who rules over all, we give thanks to you. You are the God who is and who was. We give you thanks. That’s because you have begun to rule with your great power.The nations were angry, and the time for your anger has come. The time has come to judge the dead. It is time to reward your servants the prophets and your people who honor you. There is a reward for all your people, both great and small. It is time to destroy those who destroy the earth.”

When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred up. The people asked,“ Who is this?”

Give praise to the God who is able to keep you from falling into sin. He will bring you into his heavenly glory without any fault. He will bring you there with great joy.Give praise to the only God our Savior. Glory, majesty, power and authority belong to him. Give praise to him through Jesus Christ our Lord. His praise was before all time, continues now, and will last forever. Amen.

Every fighting man’s boot that he wore in battle will be burned up. So will every piece of clothing covered with blood. All of them will be thrown into the fire.

I have made a promise in my own name. I have spoken with complete honesty. I will not take back a single word. I said,‘ Everyone will kneel down to me. Everyone’s mouth will make promises in my name.’

I give them eternal life, and they will never die. No one will steal them out of my hand.My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than anyone. No one can steal them out of my Father’s hand.I and the Father are one.”

Why are your clothes red? They look as if you have been stomping on grapes in a winepress.The Lord answers,“ I have been stomping on the nations as if they were grapes. No one was there to help me. I walked all over the nations because I was angry. That is why I stomped on them. Their blood splashed all over my clothes. So my clothes were stained bright red.

“ Who is this man coming up from the desert like a column of smoke? He smells like myrrh and incense made from all the spices of the trader.

“ Who is this woman? She is like the sunrise in all its glory. She is as beautiful as the moon. She is as bright as the sun. She is as majestic as the stars traveling across the sky.”

Mighty one, put your sword at your side. Put on glory and majesty as if they were your clothes.In your majesty ride out with power to fight for what is true, humble and fair. Let your right hand do wonderful things.
