You wearied yourself by such going about, but you would not say,‘ It is hopeless.’ You found renewal of your strength, and so you did not faint.

他们却说：‘没用的！我们要随着自己的计划而行，各人要按着自己顽梗的恶心行事。’”

他们各人都欺骗自己的邻舍，不说诚实话。他们训练自己的舌头说谎话，竭力作孽，以致他们不能回转（按照《马索拉文本》，本句意思难确定；现参照《七十士译本》翻译）。

耶和华啊！你的眼目不是要看诚实的事吗？你击打他们，他们却不觉得伤痛；你摧毁他们，他们仍不肯接受管教。他们板着脸，脸皮比磐石还硬，总不肯回转。

你因你许多的计划而劳累；现在让那些划分天象的，观看星辰的，在月朔时说预言的，都站起来，拯救你脱离要临到你身上的事。

众民劳碌得来的，被火焚烧；列国辛劳而得的，终归无有。这不都出于万军之耶和华吗？

你为什么要东奔西跑，改变你的路向呢？你必因埃及蒙羞，像你从前因亚述受辱一样。

所以甘霖停止，春雨不降；你还是一副妓女的面孔（“面孔”原文作“额”），不顾羞耻。

我们口中说过的一切话，我们一定去作，我们要向天后烧香，浇奠祭，好像我们自己和我们的列祖，以及我们的君王和领袖，在犹大的各城和耶路撒冷的街上所行的一样。那时我们吃得饱，得享福乐，不见灾祸。但是，自从我们停止向天后烧香和浇奠祭以后，我们就样样都缺乏，又因刀剑和饥荒灭亡。”

在没有律法的时候，我是活的；但诫命一来，罪就活了，我就死了。

这亚哈斯王在急难的时候，竟越发冒犯耶和华。他向击败了他的大马士革的神献祭，说：“亚兰王的神帮助了他们，我也向它们献祭，使它们也帮助我。”它们却使他和以色列人灭亡。

这锅真叫人疲累！它厚厚的锈总没法除掉，就是用火也不能除掉。
