I look but there is no one— no one among the gods to give counsel, no one to give answer when I ask them.

I look, but there is no one among the gods that can give me advice. None of them can answer when I ask them the simplest question.

But when I look, there is no one; among these there is no counselor who, when I ask, gives an answer.

Not one of your idols told you this. Not one gave any answer when I asked.

谁曾测度耶和华的灵，曾作他的谋士指教他呢？他曾与谁商议，又是谁曾使他有悟性呢？谁曾教导他公正的路，又教导他知识，指示他聪慧之道呢？

他看见没有一人行善，他震惊没有一人代求；于是他自己的膀臂为他带来了拯救，他自己的公义扶助了他。

于是术士、占卜者、迦勒底人和算命者都来了；我就向他们说了这梦，他们却不能把这梦的释义显明给我。最后，那照着我神的名称为伯提沙撒的但以理，来到我面前，他里面有圣洁之神的灵；我就向他说了这梦：

为什么我来的时候，没有人在呢？为什么我呼唤的时候，没有人回应呢？难道我的手臂太短不能救赎吗？难道我没有能力解救吗？看哪！我发出斥责，使海洋干涸，使河流成为旷野；其中的鱼因无水而发臭，因干渴而死去。

那些迦勒底人在王面前回应说：“地上没有人能讲明王所要求的事；事实上，没有任何一个伟大、有权势的君王，向任何一个术士、占卜者或迦勒底人问过这样的事。王所问的事，是件难事，除了不与属肉体的人住在一起的神明，没有谁能在王面前讲明它。”
