“ Whom have you been defying and ridiculing? Against whom did you raise your voice? At whom did you look with such haughty eyes? It was the Holy One of Israel!

“你辱骂谁，亵渎谁？扬起声来，高举眼目攻击谁呢？乃是攻击以色列的圣者。

“‘你辱骂谁，亵渎谁，扬起声来，高举眼目攻击谁呢？你攻击的是以色列的圣者。

“‘你辱骂谁，亵渎谁，扬起声来，高举眼目攻击谁呢？你攻击的是以色列的圣者。

“‘你在侮辱、亵渎谁呢？你不放在眼里、高声骂的是谁呢？是以色列的圣者！

你辱骂谁、亵渎谁？你扬起声音，又高举眼目，要攻击谁？就是攻击以色列的圣者。

你辱骂谁、亵渎谁呢？你扬起声音、高举眼目针对的是谁呢？是针对以色列的圣者！

你辱罵誰，褻瀆誰？揚起聲來，高舉眼目攻擊誰呢？乃是攻擊以色列的聖者。

「『你辱罵誰，褻瀆誰，揚起聲來，高舉眼目攻擊誰呢？你攻擊的是以色列的聖者。

「『你辱罵誰，褻瀆誰，揚起聲來，高舉眼目攻擊誰呢？你攻擊的是以色列的聖者。

「『你在侮辱、褻瀆誰呢？你不放在眼裡、高聲罵的是誰呢？是以色列的聖者！

你辱罵誰、褻瀆誰？你揚起聲音，又高舉眼目，要攻擊誰？就是攻擊以色列的聖者。

『你辱罵誰，褻瀆誰？你揚起聲來、攻擊誰呢？你高舉眼目、侮慢誰呢？乃是侮慢以色列之聖者呀。

你辱罵誰、褻瀆誰呢？你揚起聲音、高舉眼目針對的是誰呢？是針對以色列的聖者！

爾所侮所謗者為誰、向誰揚爾聲、高爾目、乃以色列之聖者也、

爾所侮所欺者為誰、爾白眼而視、疾聲而呼、欲攻誰乎、豈非以色列族之聖者乎。

爾毀謗誰、褻瀆誰、揚爾聲、高爾目、欲攻誰耶、乃攻以色列之聖者、

Who is it you have ridiculed and blasphemed? Against whom have you raised your voice and lifted your eyes in pride? Against the Holy One of Israel!

Who have you laughed at? Who have you spoken evil things against? Who have you raised your voice against? Who have you looked at so proudly? You have done it against me. I am the Holy One of Israel!

“‘ Whom have you mocked and reviled? Against whom have you raised your voice and lifted your eyes to the heights? Against the Holy One of Israel!

Who is it you have mocked and blasphemed? Against whom have you raised your voice and lifted your eyes in pride? Against the Holy One of Israel!

Whom have you taunted and blasphemed? And against whom have you raised your voice And haughtily raised your eyes? Against the Holy One of Israel!

“ Whom have you reproached and blasphemed? Against whom have you raised your voice, And lifted up your eyes on high? Against the Holy One of Israel.

Whom hast thou defied and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.

Who is it you have mocked and blasphemed? Who have you raised your voice against and lifted your eyes in pride? Against the Holy One of Israel!

Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted[ thy] voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high?[ even] against the Holy One of Israel.

Whom have you taunted and hurled insults at? At whom have you shouted and looked so arrogantly? At the Holy One of Israel!

Whom have you defied and blasphemed? Against whom have you exalted your voice and lifted up your eyes on high? Against the Holy One of Israel.

“ In this way, I will make known my holy name among my people of Israel. I will not let anyone bring shame on it. And the nations, too, will know that I am the Lord, the Holy One of Israel.

But when his heart and mind were puffed up with arrogance, he was brought down from his royal throne and stripped of his glory.He was driven from human society. He was given the mind of a wild animal, and he lived among the wild donkeys. He ate grass like a cow, and he was drenched with the dew of heaven, until he learned that the Most High God rules over the kingdoms of the world and appoints anyone he desires to rule over them.“ You are his successor, O Belshazzar, and you knew all this, yet you have not humbled yourself.For you have proudly defied the Lord of heaven and have had these cups from his Temple brought before you. You and your nobles and your wives and concubines have been drinking wine from them while praising gods of silver, gold, bronze, iron, wood, and stone— gods that neither see nor hear nor know anything at all. But you have not honored the God who gives you the breath of life and controls your destiny!

You will toss them into the air, and the wind will blow them all away; a whirlwind will scatter them. Then you will rejoice in the Lord. You will glory in the Holy One of Israel.

He will defy the Most High and oppress the holy people of the Most High. He will try to change their sacred festivals and laws, and they will be placed under his control for a time, times, and half a time.

Will you then boast,‘ I am a god!’ to those who kill you? To them you will be no god but merely a man!

He will exalt himself and defy everything that people call god and every object of worship. He will even sit in the temple of God, claiming that he himself is God.

Then at last the people will look to their Creator and turn their eyes to the Holy One of Israel.

He boasts,“ By my own powerful arm I have done this. With my own shrewd wisdom I planned it. I have broken down the defenses of nations and carried off their treasures. I have knocked down their kings like a bull.I have robbed their nests of riches and gathered up kingdoms as a farmer gathers eggs. No one can even flap a wing against me or utter a peep of protest.”But can the ax boast greater power than the person who uses it? Is the saw greater than the person who saws? Can a rod strike unless a hand moves it? Can a wooden cane walk by itself?

In that day the remnant left in Israel, the survivors in the house of Jacob, will no longer depend on allies who seek to destroy them. But they will faithfully trust the Lord, the Holy One of Israel.

But you still lord it over my people and refuse to let them go.

“ Who is like you among the gods, O Lord— glorious in holiness, awesome in splendor, performing great wonders?

Don’t overlook what your enemies have said or their growing uproar.

“ Whom have you been defying and ridiculing? Against whom did you raise your voice? At whom did you look with such haughty eyes? It was the Holy One of Israel!

“ Is that so?” retorted Pharaoh.“ And who is the Lord? Why should I listen to him and let Israel go? I don’t know the Lord, and I will not let Israel go.”

For you said to yourself,‘ I will ascend to heaven and set my throne above God’s stars. I will preside on the mountain of the gods far away in the north.I will climb to the highest heavens and be like the Most High.’

This is what the Lord says— your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:“ For your sakes I will send an army against Babylon, forcing the Babylonians to flee in those ships they are so proud of.

O Lord my God, my Holy One, you who are eternal— surely you do not plan to wipe us out? O Lord, our Rock, you have sent these Babylonians to correct us, to punish us for our many sins.But you are pure and cannot stand the sight of evil. Will you wink at their treachery? Should you be silent while the wicked swallow up people more righteous than they?

But perhaps the Lord your God has heard the Assyrian chief of staff, sent by the king to defy the living God, and will punish him for his words. Oh, pray for those of us who are left!”

“ Son of man, give the prince of Tyre this message from the Sovereign Lord:“ In your great pride you claim,‘ I am a god! I sit on a divine throne in the heart of the sea.’ But you are only a man and not a god, though you boast that you are a god.

Then I saw a beast rising up out of the sea. It had seven heads and ten horns, with ten crowns on its horns. And written on each head were names that blasphemed God.This beast looked like a leopard, but it had the feet of a bear and the mouth of a lion! And the dragon gave the beast his own power and throne and great authority.I saw that one of the heads of the beast seemed wounded beyond recovery— but the fatal wound was healed! The whole world marveled at this miracle and gave allegiance to the beast.They worshiped the dragon for giving the beast such power, and they also worshiped the beast.“ Who is as great as the beast?” they exclaimed.“ Who is able to fight against him?”Then the beast was allowed to speak great blasphemies against God. And he was given authority to do whatever he wanted for forty two months.And he spoke terrible words of blasphemy against God, slandering his name and his dwelling— that is, those who dwell in heaven.

They look proudly around, casting disdainful glances.

“ This message is for King Hezekiah of Judah. Don’t let your God, in whom you trust, deceive you with promises that Jerusalem will not be captured by the king of Assyria.You know perfectly well what the kings of Assyria have done wherever they have gone. They have completely destroyed everyone who stood in their way! Why should you be any different?Have the gods of other nations rescued them— such nations as Gozan, Haran, Rezeph, and the people of Eden who were in Tel assar? My predecessors destroyed them all!What happened to the king of Hamath and the king of Arpad? What happened to the kings of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivvah?”

For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I gave Egypt as a ransom for your freedom; I gave Ethiopia and Seba in your place.

Forget all this gloom. Get off your narrow path. Stop telling us about your‘ Holy One of Israel.’”This is the reply of the Holy One of Israel:“ Because you despise what I tell you and trust instead in oppression and lies,

They boast against the very heavens, and their words strut throughout the earth.

All we hear are the taunts of our mockers. All we see are our vengeful enemies.

Though you are a lowly worm, O Jacob, don’t be afraid, people of Israel, for I will help you. I am the Lord, your Redeemer. I am the Holy One of Israel.’

Human pride will be brought down, and human arrogance will be humbled. Only the Lord will be exalted on that day of judgment.

Let all the people of Jerusalem shout his praise with joy! For great is the Holy One of Israel who lives among you.”

The king also sent letters scorning the Lord, the God of Israel. He wrote,“ Just as the gods of all the other nations failed to rescue their people from my power, so the God of Hezekiah will also fail.”

See how these enemies insult you, Lord. A foolish nation has dishonored your name.

But perhaps the Lord your God has heard the Assyrian chief of staff, sent by the king to defy the living God, and will punish him for his words. Oh, pray for those of us who are left!”
