Indeed, the LORD’s shout will shatter Assyria; he will beat them with a club.

The voice of the Lord will shatter Assyria; with his rod he will strike them down.

The voice of the Lord will tear the Assyrians apart. He will strike them down with his scepter.

The Assyrians will be terror-stricken at the voice of the Lord, when he strikes with his rod.

At the Lord’s command, the Assyrians will be shattered. He will strike them down with his royal scepter.

Assyria will be shattered by the voice of the LORD. He will strike with a rod.

For at the voice of the Lord Assyria will be terrified, When He strikes with the rod.

For through the voice of the Lord Assyria will be beaten down, As He strikes with the rod.

For through the voice of Jehovah shall the Assyrian be dismayed; with his rod will he smite him.

Assyria will be shattered by the voice of the Lord. He will strike with a rod.

He will treat the poor fairly, and make right decisions for the downtrodden of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, and order the wicked to be executed.

Assyria, the club I use to vent my anger, is as good as dead, a cudgel with which I angrily punish.

For their oppressive yoke and the club that strikes their shoulders, the cudgel the oppressor uses on them, you have shattered, as in the day of Midian’s defeat.

As for those who are bent on traveling a sinful path, may the LORD remove them, along with those who behave wickedly! May Israel experience peace!

Does an ax exalt itself over the one who wields it, or a saw magnify itself over the one who cuts with it? As if a scepter should brandish the one who raises it, or a staff should lift up what is not made of wood!

He will give us peace. Should the Assyrians try to invade our land and attempt to set foot in our fortresses, we will send against them seven shepherd-rulers, make that eight commanders.They will rule the land of Assyria with the sword, the land of Nimrod with a drawn sword. Our king will rescue us from the Assyrians should they attempt to invade our land and try to set foot in our territory.

Rise up, LORD! Confront him! Knock him down! Use your sword to rescue me from the wicked man!LORD, use your power to deliver me from these murderers, from the murderers of this world! They enjoy prosperity; you overwhelm them with the riches they desire. They have many children, and leave their wealth to their offspring.

So here is what the sovereign master, the LORD who commands armies, says:“ My people who live in Zion, do not be afraid of Assyria, even though they beat you with a club and lift their cudgel against you as Egypt did.

“ For a remnant will leave Jerusalem; survivors will come out of Mount Zion. The intense devotion of the LORD who commands armies will accomplish this.So this is what the LORD says about the king of Assyria:‘ He will not enter this city, nor will he shoot an arrow here. He will not attack it with his shielded warriors, nor will he build siege works against it.He will go back the way he came– he will not enter this city,’ says the LORD.I will shield this city and rescue it for the sake of my reputation and because of my promise to David my servant.”’”The LORD’s messenger went out and killed 185,000 troops in the Assyrian camp. When they got up early the next morning, there were all the corpses!So King Sennacherib of Assyria broke camp and went on his way. He went home and stayed in Nineveh.One day, as he was worshiping in the temple of his god Nisroch, his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer struck him down with the sword. They ran away to the land of Ararat; his son Esarhaddon replaced him as king.

But when the sovereign master finishes judging Mount Zion and Jerusalem, then I will punish the king of Assyria for what he has proudly planned and for the arrogant attitude he displays.

The LORD will give a mighty shout and intervene in power, with furious anger and flaming, destructive fire, with a driving rainstorm and hailstones.
